The legal liability here is not good for Trump.

He's just admitted that he fired Flynn for lying to the FBI (this admission is new). This means that he asked Comey to drop an investigation into a friend he knew committed a Federal crime. This establishes intent in obstruction of justice.

If Congress was willing then they could probably move ahead with impeachment now.

No cause... MURCA FIRST!!!!

We were promised treasonous collusion to steal an election, not diplomatic groundwork by an incoming administration.

glad that i'm not Trump's lawyer.

Oh please, I sincerely wish the mouth frothers in the 'Get Trump' sore losers would do that.....Not only would they be laughed off the stage, but likely lose their seats in their next bid.

Welp. You go in and investigate because you think a murder might have been committed, and in the process you find evidence of arson and theft instead. C'est la vie.

Well.....alot more billable hours.....

Does anyone feel like this plays out like an "I Love Lucy" episode....

"Lucy.......you have some 'splaining to do"

I don't follow this chain of reasoning. Flynn admitted he lied, probably in a meeting with Trump before he was fired, so Trump fired him.

How does this tie into anything else you said showing some "admission" related to Trump's "obstruction" of justice?

Or in this case, investigate for the sake of investigating so that maybe you might find something one day that you can fabricate into charges even though those things have been done every day by American governments for hundreds of years.

It's childish.

...to the FBI, which now Trump admits was the reason he fired him. Come back after you've had a chance to digest that fact.

Umm...if I find out that one of my employees lied to the police about something he did which might reflect negatively on me or my business, I'd fire him too.

That doesn't make me guilty of anything. So?

Wow, you guys genuinely don't get it, do you?

Okayyyy...keep going with that. C'mon, captain adverse, I know you can figure this out.

No. I honestly have no idea why you think your assertion is valid. Nor am I required to figure it out and make your argument for you.

You made the assertion...you prove your point.

*Sigh*. Okay.

Flynn lies to FBI. This is a Federal crime.

Trump fires Flynn for lying to the FBI. Trump was aware of the crime when he fired him.

Trump pressures Comey to drop investigation into Flynn.

Comey doesn't drop investigation.

Trump fires Comey.

Obstruction of justice.

The missing component before was intent (mens rea). Now we have that.

You clearly don't understand what's just happened.

Sure I do....He got charged with a process crime that has little or NOTHING to do with proving the premise that the evil Trump did anything involving Russians to interfere with the election...And more so, it is something that we all knew all along he would probably be charge with....The fact that you and others want every little thing to say 'ah ha' over is pathetic.

i wouldn't take that job for all of the Tickle Me Elmos to be sold at Q4 1996 prices.

Lying to the FBI and obstruction of justice are "process crimes." Sure, jmac, whatever you say.

But if I knew he was guilty of a felony - and then tried to stop - as a very powerful figure who has the authority to fire the police chief doing an investigation of this "employee" -- then...what do you think?

You didn't quite work that one through, did you?

What was the new revelation that came about in Flynn's guilty plea? Anything other than your speculation of wishes?

I lay it out for the thinking-impaired in post 17.

If I can find a Schoolhouse Rock cartoon to explain it more clearly I'll post it here.

While I can honestly say that I do not give a crap about your business and whom you hire or fire and why, there is a difference of a couple of orders of magnitude between your business and the nation as a whole, something that clearly escapes you. Considering that the idiot now running the nation has bragged about having the best people and is supposed to ensure the integrity of those he hires, in the least he has demonstrated utter incompetence and contempt for the practice. That i turn has resulted in a slew of scum bags with whom he is and has been associated.

That's the new "popcorn" phrase Rush and some in the media are tossing out lately about this. The dutiful cult members are repeating it over and over now. Good little members.
