Matt Lauer fired from NBC News after complaint about 'inappropriate sexual behavior' - Nov. 29, 2017

Savannah Guthrie made the announcement at the top of the "Today" show, where Lauer has been an anchor for two decades.

NBC News chairman Andrew Lack said in a memo to staff that it was the first complaint lodged against Lauer in his career at the network. But he said "we were also presented with reason to believe this may not have been an isolated incident."

Just last week, CBS News fired one of its own morning anchors, Charlie Rose, after a report in The Washington Post chronicled years of sexual misconduct.

Guthrie said she was informed just moments before going on the air.

"This is a sad morning at 'Today' and NBC News," she said. "As I'm sure you can understand, we are devastated. I'm heartbroken for Matt. He is my dear, dear colleague."

First it was FOX with Bill O'Reilly and Roger Ailes and now it has crossed the aisle and happened at NBC. Glad to see they handled this with a whole lot more class and decisiveness that FOX did for the longest time.

In the end, there will be blood on the streets and lots of carriers ended in lots of sectors and areas of American life but women..... and for men - our daughters and sisters and wives and mothers will be safer and better off and that is a very very good thing.

*Reason this crosses my mind is that even moral clauses are open to interpretation and, especially, due process.

It's good to see these liberal media outlets doing something about the allegations against their people and not protecting them for years, like Fox News did.

I'm glad I'm retired, with all this going on I would be afraid to say more than hi to my female coworkers and would keep at least 5 feet of separation. Just kidding, but it really is getting scary in the work place for men.

Weinstein and Spacey acted inappropriately for many years, people were aware of it and did nothing!

Why did NBC try to stop Ronan Farrow from breaking the Weinstein story?

I saw the passage. The statement included her saying she was heartbroken for the victim as well.

If I didn't keep up with gossip sites, I wouldn't even know who Lauer is. But I do, and so when I saw Drudge's headline this morning, I wasn't even a little bit surprised because I've been reading about Lauer's philandering antics for years. I just thought he was "bulletproof." And I think Lauer thought he was too.

No, I do not but given his womanizing history and the way he thinks about himself, it doesn't come as a surprise that he might think every woman wants him and might not always wait for consent.

I hate that show; my gf watches it but cringes at the bias. I think it's falling out of favor with her too.

Only scary if you are a jackass.

You know what is appropriate and what is not. It isn't that hard to conduct oneself with others.

If you don't know the difference from saying Hi to someone and grabbing a female by the ass then that is your problem.
