NBC announces 'Today' show co-host Matt Lauer fired for inappropriate sexual behavior at work[W:388]

Re: NBC announces 'Today' show co-host Matt Lauer fired due to inappropriate sexual behavior at work

You people ignore the fact that there were other names on your ballot. Many of us noticed them and chose one so we didn't vote for the lying fraud or the lying fraud.

I never voted for or supported Trump until he was the nominee. There where 5-8 others I would have wanted over him. But, it was him or Hillary, which was an easy choice.

Re: NBC announces 'Today' show co-host Matt Lauer fired due to inappropriate sexual behavior at work

So...nobody knows what Lauer did, yet the condemnation is hot and heavy.
Huh...

NBC fired him on the spot and also mentioned that this wasn't a isolated incident

Re: NBC announces 'Today' show co-host Matt Lauer fired due to inappropriate sexual behavior at work

NBC squashed the story of Matt Lauer sexually harassing women? You know this how....?

Weinstein, not Lauer. And I would sure like to know how long they knew about Lauer. It wasn't just last week.

Re: NBC announces 'Today' show co-host Matt Lauer fired due to inappropriate sexual behavior at work

There is not going to be anyone left.... The axe drops on Lauer!

NBC announces 'Today' show co-host Matt Lauer fired due to inappropriate sexual behavior at work | Fox News

“Today” show co-host Matt Lauer has been fired from NBC due to inappropriate sexual behavior in the workplace.

When you have it all - fame, a $20 million a year contract. All you have to do is be a decent person. I'm not a fan but I'm sad for his fans and for his victim(s).

Re: NBC announces 'Today' show co-host Matt Lauer fired due to inappropriate sexual behavior at work

Not if one simply acts intelligently and professionally with everyone.

While I agree with you up to a point, that is not entirely correct. Something as simple as a misunderstood compliment can land you in front of HR to explain what you meant.

Re: NBC announces 'Today' show co-host Matt Lauer fired due to inappropriate sexual behavior at work

I disagree. I'm not saying it doesn't happen but it seems that today it has become a popular blood sport for women who either misunderstand something or a great way to get a man they have a something against. Oh I am sure it's rare that false charges are made but you must admit it is a he said she said type case, with the burden of proof on the man.
Outside a court of law, there is no burden if proof.
You can be sure that the internal investigations consider all possible future legal ramifications.
These call outs are way overdue, and offenders deserve to get hammered for their actions.

Re: NBC announces 'Today' show co-host Matt Lauer fired due to inappropriate sexual behavior at work

Like you would know anything about any of this.
Move on to the CT with this garbage.

Well, you go on thinking that they were all ignorant and they just found out and are shocked! Shocked, i tell you!

I think this was known for a while and they did nothing until they had to. We'll see what the truth is.

Re: NBC announces 'Today' show co-host Matt Lauer fired due to inappropriate sexual behavior at work

I’m surprised Matt Lauer does not have a contract. We may hear more on this.* Good news for women in the USA.

*Reason this crosses my mind is that even moral clauses are open to interpretation and, especially, due process.

The Faux article in the OP said Lauer had a $20 million a year contract through 2018.

Seriously?
Not if one is intelligent and professional.

There are women who have lied about these things. Nobody is denying that.

Oh I am sure it's rare that false charges are made but you must admit it is a he said she said type case, with the burden of proof on the man.

That does not change the fact that this kind of behavior is a real problem, with so many having been outed for inappropriate behavior.

Re: NBC announces 'Today' show co-host Matt Lauer fired due to inappropriate sexual behavior at work

So nobody knows what he did.
Which makes this thread more like a bunch of hungry vultures circling over the carrion.
Nice...

Re: NBC announces 'Today' show co-host Matt Lauer fired due to inappropriate sexual behavior at work

How about that Matt Lauer?????????? Now who's going to provide softball interviews for the all the leftwing loons......uh er I mean Democrat politicians?

LOL - you want a real example of a "softball interview"? Check this out:

https://www.vox.com/policy-and-politics/2017/10/23/16522456/trump-bartiromo-transcript

It’s not exactly a news flash at this point that Donald Trump isn’t very fluent on questions of public policy, but his interview over the weekend with Fox Business Channel’s Maria Bartiromo is really a sobering reminder of the levels of ignorance and dishonesty that the country is dealing with.

Re: NBC announces 'Today' show co-host Matt Lauer fired due to inappropriate sexual behavior at work

The Faux article in the OP said Lauer had a $20 million a year contract through 2018.

I heard that as well. Funny how fast the private sector acts as opposed to the public sector. The public sector needs to sign contracts with morals clauses.

If you get sent to HR over a "misunderstood compliment", chances are the problem lies with you.

Re: NBC announces 'Today' show co-host Matt Lauer fired due to inappropriate sexual behavior at work

You people ignore the fact that the choice was Trump or Hillary. Enough said there.

Unfortunately, those pesky GOP Primaries mean that there is more to say....

John Kasich (3.8 million votes)
Ted Cruz (7.3 million votes)
Marco Rubio (3.5 million votes)
Ben Carson (732,000 votes)
Jeb Bush (277,000 votes)
Jim Gilmore (3,000 votes)
Chris Christie (57,000 votes)
Carly Fiorina (38,000 votes)

Donald Trump (14,015,993 votes)

The closest tally to Trump's 14 million was Cruz' 7 million. This also means that Trump received 44.95% of the Conservative/Republican vote. I know that there is a new developing mood among Conservatives to try to distance themselves from Trump by pretending that history began with Clinton versus Trump or that they are more "enlightened" than the other Conservatives who blindly voted in accordance to the delicious and ignorant slogan of the week, but the love affair began long before he faced Clinton.

Now is there "enough said there?"

Re: NBC announces 'Today' show co-host Matt Lauer fired due to inappropriate sexual behavior at work

I'm glad I'm retired, with all this going on I would be afraid to say more than hi to my female coworkers and would keep at least 5 feet of separation. Just kidding, but it really is getting scary in the work place for men.

claims of sexual harassment are a potent weapon for women, some of whom have legitimate claims and some who will use lies to try to gain power. Its sort of like screams of racism we have seen in the past that Jessie Jackson used successfully to extort millions from businesses who were afraid of having that scum bag accuse them of that crime. I tried a bunch of sexual harassment cases and I'd say a good number of them had merit but an equal or perhaps slightly larger number of them were from women (and a few men) who were crappy workers who claimed harassment to try to stave off meritorious discipline or lack of promotion. and the fact is, whether its popular to say this or not, in media environments, some women use their looks to try to advance their careers and that is only going to accentuate the danger of people around them being accused of harassment if things don't work out for the woman in question.

if Lauer engaged in substantial documented misconduct-firing him is appropriate. If its dubious or trumped up, I hope he wins a big verdict for either defamation or wrongful termination (contract or no, there might be implied contractual issues)

Re: NBC announces 'Today' show co-host Matt Lauer fired due to inappropriate sexual behavior at work

Only scary if you are a jackass.

You know what is appropriate and what is not. It isn't that hard to conduct oneself with others.

If you don't know the difference from saying Hi to someone and grabbing a female by the ass then that is your problem.

if you think sexually based harassment claims require something that blatant, then you really are about 50 years out of date

Re: NBC announces 'Today' show co-host Matt Lauer fired due to inappropriate sexual behavior at work

It makes Mike Pence's decision to not meet alone with women seem wise.

That might be one of the unintended consequence of all this. Women getting less opportunities due to fear of misinterpretation of an action an employer/colleague might take or false reports from the female if meetings are taken 1 on 1.

Oh, please. All you have to do is be a decent person. They're not going to fire a money-maker like Matt Lauer for just saying "hi" to a woman in the hallway. What he did had to be pretty severe.

Reality doesn't matter.

It is the perception of what you do that can get you fired.

The man has a point.

Well stated Turtle.

I have obviously dazzled you with my brilliance, as evidenced by your lack of ability to form a coherent response.

Weinstein didn't work for NBC.

I didn't vote for Trump in the primary. I don't answer for other people's votes. Enough said.
