[Rep. Joe Barton apologized Wednesday after an explicit photo of him was posted to an anonymous Twitter account and began to circulate online.

Barton (R-Tex.), the vice chairman of the House Energy Committee, said he had sexual relationships with “other mature adult women” while separated from his second wife before their 2015 divorce.

Now all relationships as he stated were consensual, so the issue is bad judgement.

Yep, many in the South/ and North as well, Evangelicals are large group in AL, go to Church on Sunday, get forgiven Then as we see many publicly condemn homosexuality, abortion, sex outside of marriage. They get caught, with another teen or man, wanting their mistress to have an abortion, using drugs, stealing money from their campaigns or something along what they vehemently condemn others for. They usually get turfed/resign.
But the New Republican Party, not all but a fair number are OK with one of their having an attraction to young teens, these people also condemned Dems that were caught. But when it comes to one of there own, moral go out with the trash.
Well we must wait and see whether Chester the Molester gets elected in Alabama.
That could be a real bell weather on how far people will go into defending one of their own.
Taking a wild guess here, and polls show Moore is regaining strength in those polls, he will be elected, if he loses, it will be by a small margin.

Now think of the problems this will cause Republicans in the Senate. They can investigate, even vote to turf him, doubtful they will, but if they do, it goes to SCOTUS who will rule in Moore's favor.
IIRC the last case was in the House, a Member turfed, that did go to SCOTUS, and he won. He was also reelected.
 
Well, something bad is going on here. Either he sent these to nonconsenting women, in which he is in the wrong. Or the woman was consenting and leaked the pics. In that case SHE is wrong. Or someone was hacked. Also wrong.

A guy makes a stupid decision and has a “compromising” picture leaked so he apologizes. A woman has a “compromising” photo leaked and she’s a victim of sexual predation.

How do we continue to elect these idiots to congress and higher? This guy, Franken, Conyers, the two mention by that congresswoman from Florida, Moore running in Alabama. In the past we had Bill Clinton and G.H.W. Bush not to forget Weiner and a bunch more like that senator from Idaho. Seems we don't elect anyone with common sense, that has to be totally lacking.
