Report: Rep. John Conyers settled complaint over sexual conduct

Sounds like Conyers needs to go. Franken not yet. Moore and Trump should have been long gone already.

That depends I think. The chain of evidence against Conyers is suspect. Before I am willing to say he must go, there has to be better verification. If there is better verification, and these aren't forged documents from a right wing conspiracy theorist blogger.. then yes. If it can't be verified with more reliable sources, then no.

Apparently...he isnt alone. Congress has covertly paid out some 15-17 million in hush money for allegations of sexual assault. This stuff all needs to come to light.

Franken has two people now, and a history of rapey and pedophile jokes.

Moore yes.

Trump so far has not had a credible accuser no witnesses in places where tons of witnesses would be.

Trump? For what? Bragging about grabbing some groupie's *****? Donny-Boy's on the "Idiot-Box" right now pardoning a turkey named Drumstick.
And as he does, on this Thanksgiving week, while he wishes the entire population of the USA a Happy Thanksgiving, You're suggesting the President should be "gone", for bragging about grabbing some groupie's *****.

Yes. Abso****inglutely. Along with about a billion other things he's done which would have had him legitimately impeached within the first two months in office if we didn't have a bunch of cowardly Republicans in congress.

Ummmm..... no.....there are at least 12 different women accusing Trump and plenty who have witnessed it first hand including him bragging about sexual assault on an audio recording.

Franken has two relatively minor incidents where he showed bad judgment, but there is no pattern of real misogyny here at all. He also has had numerous female staff and former colleagues who have come out in support of him to confirm that this is not something he's regularly guilty of.

Do you know something nobody else does? Because had Trump done anything impeachable...you can bet you last dollar, they would have done it already.
This is the most embattled president I've ever witnessed. I mean really man...look at your avatar. You'd think Donny pranced about with his balls a flappin, in front of you. Yet the man won the election and half of the USA voted for him. You're wallowing in the muck with Tea-Baggers.

Settlement's are not an admission of guilt, they are as often as not merely a way to keep scandal out of the public eye.

Look at how public allegations of sexual misconduct are coloring the court of public opinion as it is.

Such allegations don't have to be true, their mere existence creates a furor and demand to cease running or step down from office.

Yeah, the thing that bothers me more is that he used public money to pay them off, and public money to pay for flights for mistresses. For those reasons he needs to step down.

And apparently the congress had a slush fund to quiet the sexual harassment allegations. Any public money spent, for reasons other than national security, needs to be publicly accounted for. The Congressional leadership need to make full disclosure and let the chips fall where they may.

Since you insisst ' trump has not had a credible accuser', let's look at the Franken situation, and analyze those accusations.

First, let's look at the first one.

It's from a person how has repeatedly been on Hannity multiple times. It was coming back from a USO tour , where, frankly, some of the things she was caught on video doing is similar to the picture. Witnesses. Both the photographer who took the picture, and the bodyguard who was along said that it was a staged photo, and that Leeann Tweeden was in on the staging of it. Because of those witnesses, and the fact that Leeann is not a neutral person, the story is suspect.

Next, let's take a look at the second case. The case was in public.. the photographer was the woman's husband. Supposedly , it was right in front of the Republican Booth at the fair. There were people in front, there were people behind.

I would say that would be a good indication that Franken did not intend anything. Did the woman feel uncomfortable?? Quite possibly. I don't know enough about her to say one way or another, so I will give her the benefit of the doubt. Did Franken intend something, right out in public, with so many dozens of witnesses, including her husband. I strongly doubt that also. Common sense would say he did not.

Indeed. The feminist harpies are out for blood and they’re chumming the waters with any accusation they can find.

First the 27K should be paid by the congressman not the government.

As to whether he should resign, he will face the voters in 2018. Perhaps we should let them decide.

They have continued to vote that idiot into office for decades.

No one knew about Franken's accuser before he got voted in, EVERYBODY KNEW ABOUT TRUMP'S ACCUSERS PRIOR TO THE ELECTION. He got elected anyway. All that stuff about grabbing ******s was well known; made no difference.

I’m so conflicted about this. On the one hand, I think women who wait and pile on may BE exploiting SOMETHING, not even sure what that would be. On the OTHER, I think it’s important we give these women, especially those who pile on, credence by reason of their multitudes. On the other, you’re right, they don’t have to be true to ruin lives. On the other, they don’t have to be proven. And on the OTHER, how does anyone defend themselves against something that happened ten years ago?

The only good that most definitely DOES come from these allegations is to put degenerates on notice. Stop doing that ****! You may get away with it TODAY, but that doesn’t mean you’re safe.

Apparently there’s a congressional oversight committee who investigates and, in many cases, pays out claims to people congressmen have mistreated. They’ve paid out tens of millions of dollars. I think this should routinely be a part of the public record. Lascivious behavior by congress should not be kept hidden in the closet and should have a powerful arm to either prove or disprove these allegations. It would certainly slow down the false ones. But would it also inhibit the REAL ones? Yeah, it probably would. I wonder if that’s its purpose...

I can see the wait to file charges from minors. I am not as lenient with adults. I agree the past was different and what was acceptable is no longer tolerated. That is fine. But if it was crime at that time it happened you have an obligation as an adult to do something about it. Not only if you observe but especially if you are the victim.

Yes, and guess what.. there are a lot more Trump accusers than Franken accusers, and with a lot more credibility. For one, none of them worked for a news organization, or had witnesses saying that the photo supplied as truth was a joke and the person in the photo was in on the joke and was an active participant in it.

I say it speaks a lot about the quality of people who voted for trump.

Should he stay or should he go?

How many more are there you think? [/FONT]

I don't really care that he was having sex with women.

What i care about is the fusion of sex with the workplace, which makes it look like this guys political career is toast.

Watch out, they could get anyone!

haha

I don't think your edits properly addressed my question. The person in this settlement is not getting more money now that it's been exposed. Please explain why you think most of these women are seeking paychecks and shouldn't be believed?

The corrected quote added "or political gain." That addresses the point you raise.

The closer to the time of the crime, the greater the likelihood of clear and convincing evidence being available. The longer it takes to report, the more likely for evidence to disappear or grow stale.

It also becomes an opportunity for those with some other axe to grind to pop up with separate but "corroborating" types of accusations.

As people keep arguing in these various sexual misconduct of officials threads, the people who speak up now are getting fame, sympathy, and increasing belief because "numbers" matter.

Five ("5") women have come forward...but only one has alleged actual sexual assault. The rest allege "coming on to them making them feel uncomfortable."

Yet there is a crap-storm of reactions in the court of public opinion.

This is my concern. Allegations equating to guilt, which leads to a public demand the accused prove they didn't do anything.

Seems reasonable except that it while it is fairly easy to prove something did happen...it is very, very hard to prove it did not happen.

Errr...sex in the workplace can be exciting. Just sayin'...

That's a lot of taxpayers money that could be used elsewhere.

These disbursement should be public. As they are public funds, the taxpayer has a right to know where, why and who funds went.
Note that Fox News and the Aisles estate reimbursed stockholders 90 M due to the negligence of executives.
Just a nicer way of mainly reimbursing funds the company paid to silence victims.
No guilt accepted and all that rot that goes with such a settlement.
