Republican Sen. Susan Collins: 'I want to see changes' in Senate tax bill

I think the relevant point is the GOP promised for years and years and years that they had a better plan than the ACA and they lied. Trump promised to cover everyone without cuts to Medicaid or Medicare, and he lied. Why is the onus on Democrats to solve the problem GOPers told us for years and years was the reason to elect THEM?

In other words, you finally admit that the healthcare plan which Democrats rammed through without any Republican support is broken and needs fixing and Democrats think that it is Republican's responsibility to fix their partisan plan while refusing to vote along with Republicans to fix it.

Well then it wasn't bipartisan if no Republicans voted for it. To claim Obamacare was a bipartisan plan is partisan biased crap.

I said then repeated, "Eventually Democrats did it without the GOP" so I have no idea what your point is here.

That's not what I said at all, but whatever as the kids used to say.

I wish someone would get Susan Collins some oxygen. She always seems to be running short.

My point is that Obamacare is not a bipartisan plan. Funny thing though is that if they were going to ram through a plan without any Republican support they should have just done single payer at that time. But, they had to ram something through.

Okee dokee. Glad we're re-litigating the ACA in a thread about the GOP tax plan, the discussion of the merits of which appears to be like Kryptonite to lots of Republicans.

When it passes are you still going to be talking about Kryptonite?

We'll see I guess. I don't have my crystal ball handy just now to know what's going to happen next week in the Senate.

It is not even funny that you can even compare either Clinton to the corrupt incompetence and shocking lack of allegiance to the country that made him President. He's been in Putin's pocket for years. But here at home the corruption is so rampant it is hard to keep up with. https://omfgtrumpblog.com/2017/11/06/pop-goes-the-weasel/
A satirical blog? Really? Proffered up as some sort of proof of anything (other than what the blog author believe) Err, sorry but no. Try again. (I really can't believe you just tried to pass this off as some sort of credible citation)

Do some research on your own if you don't like the source. It was not satire it is all fact. Of course if Jesus came back and told you Trump was a crook you wouldn't believe him either so......

A self proclaimed satirical blog you take as fact. Hmm.

Shall we take a look at the definition of satire for a moment?
sat·ire
ˈsaˌtī(ə)r/
noun
noun: satire
the use of humor, irony, exaggeration, or ridicule to expose and criticize people's stupidity or vices, particularly in the context of contemporary politics and other topical issues.
synonyms:mockery, ridicule, derision, scorn, caricature; More

Fact? Errr. Yeah. Just no.

It amazes me how these guys are reading Salon, The Guardian, Huff Post, Mother Jones, blogs, etc. and take it all as fact and legitimate sources. Just the fact that they are reading garbage like this in the first place shows that they are beyond hope as far as having a non-partisan debate. They have been completely brainwashed.

Actually according to everyone scoring the bill, including those who use "dynamic" scoring.

BTW, wonder why we haven't see the Treasury's "dynamic" score yet....hmm.......
Yes I am sure every liberal scoring the bill says that. Tax Cuts are de devil, dee dee der.

Not if the rest of the bill is garbage. She's doing her job. Trump not only stained the GOP worse than it already was, he's trying to drive harmful legislation. Thankfully he's getting stopped most of the time.

She is a RINO just making up excuses for supporting Obama-care.

That implies you think she is for socialized medicine as long as it is a "Republican" plan. That is a misrepresentation of her stance. She is a conservative and wants a conservative plan that is not socialized medicine but she is not for dismantling Obamacare piece by piece and screwing people in the process. She is also not for just rubber stamping anything the Tea Party or Freedom caucus wants. She is against Obamacare but wants a viable, fair, and good plan to replace it with so we don't have to throw people out in the cold. You can't just screw many Americans (including Republicans) and accept it as collateral damage because you want to screw Democrats. These are real people living real lives. If the far right hadn't been so pig headed, you would have had her vote and the Republicans would have passed healthcare. The failure is not hers, it is the pig headed far right's failure.
If she was a conservative then she would want the ACA mandate repealed no matter what.

They also promised something better which they haven’t been able to come up with. So ALL your GOP and trump are liars. Chew on that.

Sure the RINOs who were lying about repealing the ACA said that.

You make your own definition of conservative. If it doesn't match your definition 100% then you claim they are not a conservative. Collins is for the people, not for a party. She won't trample on people just to follow party ideology.

Conservatives don't support the ACA or any form of it.

Yes, reality has a liberal bias I suppose, but if you'd prefer "conservative" scores, let's see those.

And tax cuts aren't the devil, just stupid and reckless at this point in time.

Good on her. They need to put their heads together and work it out, instead of dismissing the whole thing based on partisanship.

Collins and Johnson and McCain and a few others are trying to legislate for the entire country, which is what they were duly elected to do. She represents her constituents first, and she's a very smart lady who no doubt knows her constituents want her to do. The same people who screamed about the ACA being past in a partisan manner are now clamoring for the Republicans to do the exact same thing. Well, some of the same people. I was upset at the way the Dems passed the ACA and Dodd-Frank, and because I'm not a hypocrite, I'm crying foul on the Republicans for trying to do the same thing.

Our entire world and existence is one of compromise. Marriage, work, schools, friendships, you name it...the world involved give and take, respecting others and listening to ideas, and working together for a common good.

Collins isn't my Senator, but I applaud her for putting country over party. We need more like her - on BOTH sides.
