Under a $2.8 million no-bid contract awarded by the Office of Acquisitions in Washington, security guards at the American Embassy in Moscow and at consulates in St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg and Vladivostok will be provided by Elite Security Holdings, a company closely linked to the former top K.G.B. figure, Viktor G. Budanov, a retired general who rose through the ranks to become head of Soviet counterintelligence.

So the Trump administration is trusting a Russian firm run by a former Russian spook to provide security for our U.S. embassies and consulates in Russia! What could go wrong? If Trump wants to dispel rumors that he's a Russian puppet, this is not the way to go about it.

Well Im pretty sure the local security guards the embassy employed before were probably Russian agents themselves so I dont think this development is too alarming.

I don't see a problem. I see a solution to a problem. Anytime Russia or any government wants to they can easily overwhelm our security at our embassy. We are limited in how many people we can have to protect our people. As we have seen in the past that our forces have not been able to stop terrorist groups from overwhelming our embassies.

From what I remember, its usually been standard policy to hire local bodies when getting guards for most embassies. Especially when its in countries that we have marginally friendly ties with.

Even before the whole Benghazi incident, it was usually the same thing.

I think this is just people looking for more dirt.

Story says the candidates are vetted, this gang’s strong suit is vetting. No worries.....

Not in Russia from now, on, apparently.

I don't why people expect Russia to play nice. We sanctioned them, they threw out a bunch of Americans, here's the solution.

If this Russian company has any deaf guards, maybe they could be hired for the embassy in Cuba.

Your talking about a group who's near majority, is an army of thin skinned, morally repressed, socially stunted individuals.

They wouldn't know how to fix a situation if Scrooge himself (post holiday spirit visits) came up too their faces, and told them the error of their ways.

What exactly would the benefit be for so-called "Collusion With Russia" by hiring "bad security" for the US embassy in Moscow?
How would any "collusion" benefit from this?

You mean if Trump is a true "stooge of Russia", the only way for him to leak things to the Russians is via the US embassy in Moscow? That sounds like bizarre reasoning. That's like saying that if I buy a cow, I can ride on it to get to the store faster, to buy milk.

I'm sorry, I don't see how submitting to Russia a country that actively spies on the U.S. and it's allies and thereby, compromising our security is a "solution".

This is not a compromise. This is rolling over and playing dead.

What would your solution be?

Oh I have that answer.. Remove all personnel and eject all Russian Nationals from the USA ...Is that a solution. You bet it is. For Christ sakes you don't hire the Fox to guard the hen house. What the hell is wrong with people.

Good way to start a war.
