Volvo Pulls its Ads from Hannity after Moore Civerage

The corruption of journalism is getting worse not better.

This is bad for us.

This one is going to get expensive. Better start smashing those Volvos, guys!

Seems like more and more advertisers don't want to be associated with someone defending the diddling of kids. Who knew.

Hmmm....

Every single person in this country deserves the presumption of innocence,” Hannity said. “With the allegations against Judge Moore, none of us know the truth of what happened 38 years ago. The only people that would know are the people involved in this incident.” The Fox News host added that Moore “should step aside and leave the Senate race” if the allegations are true.

My what a truly horrible person this Sean Hannity is. :wow:

Daring to state what should be the basic moral viewpoint when allegations of crime or other misconduct are raised against anyone...that a person deserves the presumption of innocence.

Yep, that dastardly ideal, so blatantly advocated by this man proves he deserves all of our derision, disgust, and censure.

By all means, campaign to silence this kind of foolish idealism. That's the New Left American way, only truth and justice for the accusers...to hell with the accused. :coffeepap:

(Edit: For those who can't see...that was HEAVY sarcasm. ;) )

How can Hannity get away with saying discussing stuff like this

Every single person in this country deserves the presumption of innocence

Its just sick

Also to note, from the article: "None of the advertisers said they were pulling their ads because of Hannity’s coverage of the allegations"

Would you want to be associated with a man who defended a possible pedophile, no. Regardless of innocence no company wants to be associated with an accused pedophile or someone trying to defend them. Whether that person is guilty or not, it still affects their reputation.

I guess you were not aware I served as Public Defender?

Left libertarians buy Volvo (with a gun rack), not conservatives. None of his audience has anything to smash.

No I would not because how would I? Also my point still stands, you know what I mean by defending.

Actually you have no point. It is just emotional appeal.

I don't know about Canada, have never studied it's laws. But if I didn't believe in the principle of innocent until proven guilty I would never have studied to become a Public Defender.

Essentially Hannity wasn't "defending" anyone. He was simply pointing out both a fact of our justice system, and the ideal behind it. Which should be applied to anyone accused.

Rushing to judgement is the problem here. An accusation is merely that, a claim someone did something. However, an accusation is not "proof," and it is up to the accuser to prove their allegations.

Luckily nothing Hannity does can even remotely be misconstrued as journalism.

Uh huh. And where were your passionate defenses of Weinstein, Spacey and Louis CK? They havent been convicted either and they at least had the courtesy to harass adults. A little consistency instead of selective whining along party lines would lend you some credibility.

Volvo can remove their ads for any reason they choose. That's their freedom. Maybe it wasn't the pedo defense they had a problem with rather the wasteful smashing of functioning coffee makers. That's a mortal sin to many. And I think enough has come out by now to safely assume Moore did have a thing for children.

But it is enough to tarnish reputation and those companies do not want to be possibly associated with it.

Well...

...I will point out one important difference between Mr. Spacey and most other public figures accused of sexual misconduct.

He did not deny it.

He states he may have done it, but he does not remember because he is alcoholic and drinks.

In a way this is a mea culpa; unfortunately for him this is no longer a social atmosphere where such honesty is considered a positive.

and...

Louis CK has built his comedy on off-the-wall, raunchy, forbidden topics. Ex. He is listed as NO.2 on this list of the "Top 8 Best Dirty Comedians"...

In their cases, Louis CK admitted his fault, and Kevin Spacey admitted it was possible. I gave them both credit for this.

I haven't picked up on Weinstein because I don't care.

However, I think you'd find I am pretty consistent when it comes to "innocent until proven guilty." :coffeepap:

You can be a sleeze bag without being convicted of something yet. It's obvious to rational Americans that no matter how this plays out Moore is a genuine sleeze ball based purely in his own statements and behavior during this ordeal and prior to it.

Hannity has a tendency to intentionally try to shock and outrage people with his statements and defense of the indefensible, so it's perfectly understandable why this might be the last straw for Volvo execs. Nobody other than a few Republicans want to be within 100 political miles of Moore. You should be well aware that innocent until proven guilty is only for real court, not the court of public opinion.

Keurig coffee maker pulled it's add also. Hannity supporters are now boycotting them. Pretty soon they're going to run out of things to boycott or smash up-

At any rate these advertisers will move to the hot spot--which is now MSNBC--specifically Rachel Maddow who has been kicking FOX NEWS behinds over the last several months, as she has been reporting on every detail coming out of these investigations since the onset.

While FOX NEWS has been doing this:

I don't know who would want to listen to that Russian commi traitor Sean Hannity anyway. FOX NEWS is involved in a FEDERAL LAWSUIT, over the death of a DNC staffer, Seth Rich.
Lawsuit: Fox News concocted Seth Rich story with oversight from White House - Aug. 1, 2017

Sean Hannity was actually praising Julian Assange Wikileaks founder who was recently labled a hostile intelligence enemy of this nation, by releasing 1000's of CIA documents informing terrorists on the tactics used to catch them.

Let em--they've moved on to the number cable network--MSNBC--Rachel Maddow who has been crushing FOX NEWS in viewership and ratings for several months now, as she has been reporting every detail on these Russian investigations since their onset.

Assange who has been holed up in the Ecuador embassy in London for the last 4 years, avoiding extradition back to the U.S. to face charges on what he did to G.W. Bush. Bascially putting a target on every American soldiers back.

It's 1 accuser about something that happened 30 years ago. If Spacey is a child molester there will be more

See, these "no true scotsman" argumentum ad numeram (appeal to popular belief) fallacious arguments are a major problem when arguing a point with some people in this Forum.

I consider myself a fairly "rational" person, and I also happen to be American born and bred.

I do not agree with your claim, and this does not make me an "Irrational American." :doh

None of what you say has anything to do with allegations that Hannity is "defending" Mr. Moore by appealing to a principal of justice which runs contrary to the "burn the witch" ideology we see so often in this political climate.

I don't watch Mr. Hannity, I think his view is too aggressively conservative for me.

However, IMO campaigns to label him falsely as "defending a pedophile," to get his show cancelled, while clearly within free speech bounds, are a typical method of silencing opposition used by the totalitarian mindset.

Agree...or be destroyed seems to be the mindset. Which then is the truly rational view? :coffeepap:

Now I don't like Hannity nor do I think highly of his opinions.
But yes. Speaking one's opinion and pointing out the obvious fact that accusations out of the past and without much evidence is horrid and those that do it must be crushed by popular swarm tweet before the courts speak.

The operative word is "possible". Destroying the accused before courts decide is harassment, mobbing or much worse.

I am unaware of any criminal or civil charges that have been placed before any court in reference to Moore's alleged (past?) kiddy fetish. I don't agree with Moore's "morality" ravings or much of what Hannity spews but both are free to speak their minds, have jobs and even run for office.
