Syria has reportedly signed the Paris climate agreement. The Independent reported that Syria signed the accord. The move leaves the U.S. as the only country in the world that is not supporting it. The report comes after Nicaragua last month signed the agreement, which left the U.S. and Syria as the only two countries not supporting it. The Trump administration filed a formal notice with the United Nations in August that it would be leaving the deal “as soon as it is eligible to do so.” The earliest the U.S. can leave the deal is Nov. 4, 2020. Trump’s decision was met with widespread criticism. After his announcement, a dozen states and hundreds of cities announced they would uphold the tenants of the climate deal.

The leftist lemmings that support the PCA without knowing what is in the PCA celebrate Syria signing on...primarily because in their eyes it makes the US look bad. Never mind the fact that Syria like China and other nations have zero obligation to do anything about their own emissions for 30 years and will as signatories be recipients of free money courtesy of the developed countries stupid enough to buy into that worthless document.

I'm an Independent just like you claim to be Mack. Just goes to show, Independents aren't lemmings.

Maybe Macron could host a virtual climate summit on Google hangouts and broadcast it on Youtube and save all that Carbon emissions.

What specifically do you find positive in a real world effective policy and directive perspective from the PCA...and why wasnt it submitted to the senate for ratification as all treaties are REQUIRED BY LAW? How can you or anyone support an 'agreement' that requires the US to live by conditions today AND pay for others, while countries like China, India, Saudi, etc are exempted from actual change for 3 decades?

How can you or anyone that has actually read the PCA support the PCA?

Well, at least the world knows that this is a temporary Trump thing. But he does have an argument...

Of course, Trump's flat out snub is extremely counterproductive. The argument that it just "doesn't do enough," is mere charade considering that conservatives have for years and years presented the global warming issue as mere hoax and that scientists are dumb. The "lack of a binding enforcement mechanism" argument is just par for the UN course. The idea that governments around the world are suppose to take control of the private sector does have its eye opening arguments.

This is mostly an ideological stand on all counts. The UN likes the idea of "responsibility" by pretending that it is doing something productive (see study above). As for Trump, this is just one more thing he used to attack Obama to the obnoxious celebration of the drones and now we get to look like the a-holes. Still, since "no major industrialized country is on track to meet its expressed obligations," it doesn't hurt anything to remain within. If we actually cared about that silly "Make America Great Again" slogan, we would do what we had to before 2020 in order to show the world that we are the only ones who took it serious. But that slogan really didn't mean anything, did it?

200 nations hopping to Paris will cost a lot of moneys. It will have to be the last 'Climate Summit" as they
will have no way to finance another silly get together without US financial support. Great move by Trump
perhaps one of his finest.
