Jared Kushner's team turned over documents to special counsel in Russia investigation - CNNPolitics

Jared Kushner has turned over documents in recent weeks to special counsel Robert Mueller as investigators have begun asking in witness interviews about Kushner's role in the firing of FBI Director James Comey, CNN has learned.

Mueller's investigators have expressed interest in Kushner, President Donald Trump's son-in-law and a White House senior adviser, as part of its probe into Russian meddling, including potential obstruction of justice in Comey's firing, sources familiar with the matter said.

Their questions about Kushner signal that Mueller's investigators are reaching the President's inner circle and have extended beyond the 2016 campaign to actions taken at the White House by high-level officials. It is not clear how Kushner's advice to the President might relate to the overall Russia investigation or potential obstruction of justice.

How much contact did Kushner have with Russians?

A lot.

Jared Kushner, the son-in-law of Donald Trump, who acts as his senior White House adviser, secured a multimillion-dollar Manhattan real estate deal with a Soviet-born oligarch whose company was cited in a major New York money laundering case now being investigated by members of Congress.

A Guardian investigation has established a series of overlapping ties and relationships involving alleged Russian money laundering, New York real estate deals and members of Trump’s inner circle. They include a 2015 sale of part of the old New York Times building in Manhattan involving Kushner and a billionaire real estate tycoon and diamond mogul, Lev Leviev.

The ties between Trump family real estate deals and Russian money interests are attracting growing interest from the justice department’s special counsel, Robert Mueller, as he seeks to determine whether the Trump campaign collaborated with Russia to distort the outcome of the 2016 race. Mueller has reportedly expanded his inquiry to look at real estate deals involving the Trump Organization, as well as Kushner’s financing.

The house of cards built on Russian mob money is starting to fall apart.

So that is your dream. Very good. Everyone knows that large real estate companies in New York do business with rich folks from all around the world. I can remember discussing this here in the forum long before we gave Trump the job.

And there's lots of money to be laundered all over the world. And taxes to be avoided.

CNN was first to report the indictments. Now CNN is the first to report on documents Kushner turned over to team Mueller.

Who the Hell is leaking out of Mueller's team? That is the only way CNN would have such information.

You're right, real estate companies often engage in multimillion dollar deals with foreign government agents who are implicated in money laundering and happen to hail from the same country that your entire family is under investigation for collusion with.

If you wave your hand any harder you'll break your wrist.

If there was only one party in this story then it could naturally be assumed that it was somebody in Mueller's team who leaked this. However, since Kushner's team is another party in this story, they must be considered to be the possible leak.

Since Mueller was able to keep the arrest and flipping of Papadopoulos secret since July, I'm left to assume that Kushner, the party with no apparent ethics, experience, intelligence or political savvy, is the one who leaked it.

If what you say is true, what is the purpose in doing so?

Here's the thing. You do business in NYC, especially real estate, you are going to HAVE to deal with some pretty shady characters. The Italian Mafia, the Russian Mafia, crooked politicians, etc. I am SURE Trump has in the past dealt with these people, but since I am from NY(not NYC), and have done business in and dealt with people from NYC, I knew that how things are down there, so IMO it was no big deal. I dislike Trump, but on that? I didn't care, that's how things are done.

So when Trump's run for president started I did wonder why? Why would someone who's dirty, go into politics? And I truly believe Trump had NO idea he would win, he was just doing it for publicity, getting his name out there, so he could charge more for his hotels and real estate.

Then he won. And now it's all going to come out. What sunk Nixon wasn't what the Watergate investigation started out investigating. Same with Clinton, they didn't start out investigating a BJ. whether Trump colluded or not with the Russians to get dirt on Clinton isn't what's going to sink him. What's going to sink him is money laundering and illegal favors he's done for the Russians, and they've done for him. It's the way business is done in NYC.

But too bad now. Trump should have stayed in the background. But his ego wouldn't allow that, now he might pay the price.

The Prevezon case again, right? That's the case where the DoJ recovered $6M on something like $600k that was tied to US accounts. Yeah, if I remember correctly some folks were pissed that we didn't pursue the whole $250M but, of course, the other funds weren't in the US jurisdiction to pursue.

If what you say is true, what is the purpose in doing so?

Two theories:

1)Probably somebody in Kushner's team hates him. It's possibly even Donald Jr. On a regular day the Washington Post is able to confirm a story using twenty sources. To say the Trump family does not inspire loyalty would be the understatement of the century.
2)It's Kushner, and this is his way of saying, "Hey, look y'all, I'm totally cooperating and I have nothing to hide."

I don't know that they are leaking anything or not. However, when prosecutors investigate conspiracy cases, they often will selectively leak info the the press in order for the conspirators being investigated to start sweating and getting worried as it shows the prosecutor knows far more than they thought they did. It is a way to get people to start talking to save their own ass.

Everyone in trumps inner circle has been involved with the Russians.

It's 1.

Trump demands loyalty and yes men, but history has taught us yes men are often aren't very loyal and trustworthy.

They usually hate being yes men. Trump's 'team' seems to be full of leaks.

The mark of competent leaders is they demand to know the bad news. Obama was generally uninterested in the good news and specifically demanded to know what was wrong with an outcome or policy.

nah, not buying that one but thanks for playing.

My guess is someone at the FBI, the same someone that was responsible for many leaks prior, has firsthand info on what is going on in Mueller's circle. And they leaked the story. Mueller has already been warned by Congress twice over leaks coming out of his investigation. Yet they continue.

trump has no intent in learning or understanding policy, or anything else for that matter. All he wants to do is take credit for everything without doing anything.

You won't believe that the leakiest White House in living memory leaked the story, but you'll believe that it was the FBI "because shut up, that's why."

well of course, because it's 'fake news' ..................... LOL ............

Another far fetched 'theory' is the leaks might be someone in his own family. Their lives are being ripped apart. Maybe they want him tossed out of the WH so this nightmare will be over and they can get back to living normal lives.

Money laundering is not just "doing business with rich folks". Is that your "dream"?

I've said that many times here. That's the way business is done in NYC. But ALL bets are off now. He's president, his family have political jobs. He's surrounded himself with crooked, dirty people.

It's all fair game now.
