Pizza Hut 'not seeing any impact' from NFL protests on pizza sales

I can't remember... but it would have been 30 years ago at least.

I think most American's are wrong because of politics in this case.

Kneeling to protest the flag is disrespectful. That was the players intent. To not respect the nation or police that abuse them, real or imagined. The narrative changed once Trump weighed in... then the protest was not about disrespecting those institutions. Too late. The manner of the protest and the intent of the protest are disrespectful.

Actually, kneeling was the idea of a military veteran who persuaded Kaepernick that kneeling was less disrespectful than sitting on the bench.

I have yet to see a player express disrespect. I've seen them express sadness that blacks still don't have access to justice in this country in cases of police brutality.

I know you've been told this is about disrespect, but that's a false narrative. The true story is linked above.

So you admit it is disrespectful...

I have been debating this issue since literally Day 1 of Kap's protest... I am well aware of the SEAL.

The very act of kneeling is disrespect and on top of that Kap's own words affirmed that this was the intent.

Nope.

"With almost a 1/4 the NFL have been arrested or committed a crime"

Do you have a link to this or are you just spewing racist hate?

Actually you would be the racist to assume that he was only thinking of the black players.

When he said people in the NFL had been arrested, why did you immediately think of only the black players?

Just in case you want to keep using the flag to prop up your racist agenda, here's the official flag code. Literally no mention of kneeling or sitting for the anthem.

You know what is mentioned as disrespectful to the flag though?

Using it on ads, using it on clothes, carrying the flag horizontally, and all the other stuff you like to do with the flag and have never once complained about as disrespectful despite it being a direct violation of the flag code.

Black athletes make up the vast majority of professional football.

Yet it's you who attributes their crimes to their race. That's the only way your post makes sense.

when over 70% of the athletes are black, what do you expect

Trump is the President thus he is a President, you best get on to understanding that much.

You dont get to make up your own personal definitions for words when you are out in public.

Okay. What ever you are trying to say.

If the flag doesn't represent the freedom to protest, freedom of speech, and expression, freedom of ideas, there's no meaning to the flag at all. As soon as it represents a narrowing of expression, you might as well burn it.

They were already kneeling in mass.

Seemed to me like a handful before Trump's outburst. This was the post Trump reaction:

Show me evidence of the "mass" of players doing this before Trump. It might be true, but I can't find any evidence. It certainly wasn't a topic of conversation until the freaking president of the United States decided he should spend some time working on it. Such perspective...

If it's any help to Papa J's flagging sales, I consider their pizza to better than the cardboard covered with salty grease that pizza hut severs up. At least I'll eat PJ's if it's offered free. Pizza Hut is down there with Little Ceasars. I have no need to resort to that stuff when I'm doing the purchasing.

Too many good local pizzerias to buy that crap. I live in a town of about 25,000 people and we've got two outstanding pizza places that are locally owned and make vastly better pizza than any chain store does.

This whole protest thing was almost completely below the radar until DJT started spewing tweets about it. That caused a big reaction. The NFL had other issues already. Maybe PJ should rethink his support of DJT or move his ads to Duck Dynasty?

...and TDS....

It seems that pizza Hut is not doing that great.

"Pizza Hut reported a 1 percent gain in global sales at established restaurants. Strength overseas offset flat results in the United States, where promotions and other efforts appear to be helping it make progress against Domino’s Pizza Inc (DPZ.N) and other pizza chains."

Pizza Hut weighs on Yum China growth

(Reuters) - Yum China Holdings Inc, the operator of KFC, Pizza Hut and Taco Bell in the world's second-largest economy, posted quarterly sales slightly below estimates, dragged down by sluggish growth at Pizza Hut amid a turnaround drive.

Joey Wat, Yum China's president and chief operating officer, told analysts after the results that the pizza unit had been struggling and there were "quite a few key aspects of the fundamentals of the business that we have to fix".

"There is a still a long way to go to turn around Pizza Hut and we are working diligently to get things done," she said.
