American who 'regretted' joining IS gets only 20 years in jail

They should hire someone to interview him and write a book on this guy...his background, why he did it, what it was like within ISIS, etc.

And the proceeds go to a charity.

Meh, I think most people, esp. westerners, that buy into Islamic *fundamentalism/extremism* are mentally defective. They are like the people that join any cult...weak-minded, needing and seeking structure, seeking to find a way out of mediocrity or being a loser or person of low esteem/feeling they have no control over their lives and blame others, and choosing to follow a creed that will offer them glory and opportunity to 'be someone.'

So I wouldnt be all that enthusiastic about that person being let out of jail later.

Twenty years is plenty when it comes to putting the word out and setting the example. This guy is probably going to be killed in prison anyway, so what really is the difference?
