Three charged in shooting after Spencer talk - News - Gainesville Sun - Gainesville, FL

Three supporters of white nationalist Richard Spencer were arrested Thursday in connection with an incident in which a shot was fired, according to Gainesville Police Department arrest reports.

At 5:20 p.m. Thursday, a vehicle with William Fears, Colton Fears and Tenbrink pulled up to a bus stop at 3315 SW Archer Road where a small group of people were sitting. One of the men began cheering Adolf Hitler and chanting.

The victim hit the vehicle’s rear window with a baton, and the car sped away before abruptly stopping.

Tenbrink got out of the car with a handgun. William Fears and Colton Fears yelled, “I’m going to f---ing kill you,” and “Shoot them.”

Tenbrink fired one shot at the victim. The shot missed and struck the building that was directly behind the victim.

Wow! I thought that Spencer's posse was peaceable! :roll: Someone bumps their car with a baton and then they try to kill them. Yeah, totally peaceable. :roll:

I am sure that there will be people here who will justify this attempted murder based on the aggressor's car being hit by a baton. Those who do are saying that attempted murder is okay. They choose not to understand that two wrongs don't make a right. They choose not to understand that these white supremacists were the real danger here. They also choose not to understand that the shooter, Tenbrink, was looking for a fight:

“This is a mess. I’m disappointed in the course of things,” he said. “It appears that the only answer left is violence, and nobody wants that.”

I hope Tenbrink gets life without parole and that his posse spends a long time behind bars.

Well, obviously attempted murder is wrong. There was no justification for that amount of force.

However, why did that guy think hitting his car with a baton was a good idea? That is unbelievably stupid. These racist lunatics are dangerous: the last thing you should do is try to provoke them.

In fact, you should just stay away from these clows entirely. It is not worth the risk, and it only gives them the attention they want.

That doesn't matter. Attempted murder is attempted murder. If someone strikes my car, I don't have the right to shoot them.

Anyone that breaks the law should be prosecuted to the full extent.

Including the guy that hit the back window to initiate the violent exchange.

Besides, it was only one shot. It's not like it was hundreds like what was done in Benghazi and Clinton, then Clinton, then Clinton, and Obama, and Satan, and Obama, then Clinton, and you can pry my gun out of my cold dead hands, and Obama, and Liberals, and swamping the drains, and.....

No, you don't have the right to shoot them but they should be arrested and charged with a felony.

In many states, if you're involved in an incident that ends up in murder, you are also charged with murder, even if you didn't pull the trigger. I would think the same thing would apply here to some extent.

Agree.

They were not blocking the car, from the story. The assholes in the car should of drove off and reported the as whole who broke their window. More than one person was itching for a fight in this situation. I hope all involved including window breaker get maximum penalty

I'm in favor of police protecting themselves from anyone, regardless of race or political affiliation, that threatens them. Just wondering if you feel police should shoot some groups but not others.

No...they had removed themselves from imminent danger, there was no JOA.

He had no right to use lethal force in self-defense.
