"A shake-up is underway at the Democratic National Committee as several key longtime officials have lost their posts, exposing a still-raw rift in the party and igniting anger among those in its progressive wing who see retaliation for their opposition to DNC Chairman Tom Perez.

The ousters come ahead of the DNC's first meeting, in Las Vegas, Nevada, since Perez took over as chairman with a pledge this year to unite a party that had become badly divided during the brutal Bernie Sanders-Hillary Clinton 2016 primary race."

I guess an ideological purge of DNC leadership from the guy who appointed almost no progressives, Bernie supporters or FDR traditionalists to positions of power or influence within the party is Perez' idea of unification. ( DNC Elected Zero Representatives From Sanders Wing | The Progressive Army )? Who could have anticipated Tom Perez's sudden but inevitable betrayal? All this after a so-called Democratic 'unity reform' was hosted; ridiculous.

To add insult to injury, he's replacing long time veterans like Ray Buckley and with the likes of notorious primary cheater and disgraced CNN personality Donna Brazile (fired by the media company for passing the Clinton campaign questions who denied the impropriety until she couldn't any longer), having appointed her to the rules committee no less; it'd be unbelievable if it weren't so expected ( https://www.pastemagazine.com/artic...ile-among-those-nominated-by-tom-perez-t.html ). Apparently establishment Dems aren't so different from the Donald in insisting on loyalty above all else.

Meanwhile, immediately in the wake of this epic backstab, people within the party (including that snake Brazile) are insisting Bernie run as a Democrat ( DNC resolution calls for Bernie Sanders, Angus King to join Democratic Party - CNNPolitics )? Not on their life.

Cenk's take largely coincides with my own:

Bottom line, these third way neoliberals either think Trump is so bad they're going to win by default and thus have to make no overtures to what is now more than half the Democratic party and a massive chunk of independents who agree with the bulk of Bernie's policies in the majoritarian, or would rather lose as corporatists than win as FDR social democrats.

At this point, it's more than official: in its bid to circle the wagons, consolidate and maintain a chokehold of power within the DNC, the party brass that stole away the party in the 80s and 90s from its FDR tradition, framed that tradition as an interloper within its own party, and just presided over one of its greatest, if not its greatest electoral loss in history has clearly learned nothing from the experience: where's your crown King Nothing?

It's disgusting to the point that despite being a lifelong Democrat, I almost hope they lose come 2018.
