Generally speaking, we think of "ancient history" as no later than approximately 1000 CE.

Jefferson Davis traitorous actions took place in the 19th Century which in most definitely not "ancient history" except in the minds of those who are attempting to erase the actions of the Confederacy from history.

Why should modern American children of African descent attend school in a building named for a man who would have seen them and others of the same origin as being incapable of any education other than that required for manual labor for food?

I am of two minds on naming the school for our most recent past President - basically, it is too soon; there are other African American heroes that could have been honoured by having the school named for them.

The only people erasing the actions of the Confederacy are the ones tearing down the statues. The statues remind people what the Confederates did - both the good and the bad.

To spite him, that's why. Here was a racist man who enslaved black people, and now 98% of his school is black. Every black kid in that school should feel smug for being there. It would be like taking Hitler's assets and using them to start a scholarship for Jewish kids.
