Obama’s Name to Replace Jefferson Davis’ on Mississippi School

Mr. Fenton is spot on.
The Demos lost because of this dude and "his dictatorship"-style ideology. What they stand for was never good for America.
Our Republicans are here to stay, like it or not.
(walks away)

There was no "dictatorship style ideology".

Biased bull****.

The statue has nothing to do with anything so ****ing petty as partisan politics. I know it is the blood of right wing americans but there are far more important aspects to this than what happened to the Democratic party, and on that why the **** would you care/

I will save you the time of branding me an Obama supporter, if you can find anything in favor of him during his term, I will change sexes. However...Barack Obama was the first man in many, many years, who was not born into prosperity and actually live the American dream. He was the first Black American to become president, he had a stellar career as a community organizer, was a scholar of some distinction and he shook hands with Donald Trump without pucking, which means he has a ton of grace.

He will stand as a leader and inspiration for others to come. He deserves a statue. Simply because he is not in your party makes him evil to you, part of the hate ethic of Trumpland

The right only reveals itself to be churlish and petty by your kind of post, unfortunately for you, it's standard fare, right out of the Trump support handbook. Attacking the man and not his policies has always been a part of what passes for politics, but the Trump right has found an entirely new substrata of sewer to play in.

Well said.

Rock star? Compared to who?

Just a term... he was all hype but no substance at the time... no achievements but he was hailed as the best thing ever.

Nothing to do with Democrat or Republican. They're going to name it after a black man who had a brilliant academic career and became President of the United States. Do you really not see why they would do that?

How do you know this?

None of us know that part of his history.

Isn't the rule that they don't name things like schools after living people?

lol

You're thinking of money.

And double lol that you think no one knows his history.

Whoa! Like, dejas vu all over again!

I think they should have renamed the school after Harriet Tubman, Fredrick Douglas, Nat Turner or some other black historical figure who fought against slavery. I think people on the left and right would agree those are good choices.

I don't think Obama is a bad choice but those are good choices too.

How do I know what? That he got his B.A from Columbia, his Juris Doctor from Harvard, magna cum laude, and was president of the Harvard Law Review?
Never heard that about living people. Odd, if true.

Next up: renaming Alabama to Obamaville.

:2razz:

Now wouldn't that be awesome. But instead, they will vote this guy in as one of their senators...

Roy Moore: NFL players kneeling during anthem are breaking the law

Alabama's Republican Senate candidate Roy Moore said Wednesday that NFL players and other athletes who take a knee during the national anthem in protest are violating a federal law.

"It’s against the law, you know that?" Moore said. "It was an act of Congress that every man stand and put their hand over their heart. That’s the law."

"If they didn’t have it in there, it would just be tradition. But this is law," he added. "If we disobey this, what else are we going to disobey?"

nah... Strom Thurmond Dam... formerly known as Clarks Hill Dam was renamed after Strom Thurmond in 1988. He didn't die until 2003. Although people in Georgia still called it Clarks Hill... after the town that was submerged when the dam was built.

Agreed... Davis has no business having a school named after him... there are better candidates than Obama for the rename but he is far better than an actual traitor.

All due respect etc but there wasn't a better candidate for those kids and their families. Like or hate his politics, I think he almost invariable behaved with grace in office, was free of personal scandal, is a good father and husband, all from humble beginnings. He's a fine role model for those kids, and I expect that part of his legacy will only grow over time. The partisans can argue about the political stuff, but kids don't care about that.

None of us know what part of his history? Anybody who doesn't know he was a black man who became President has no business posting here.

He is absolutely a good role model... I was simply thinking that making it Harriet Tubman High School or Booker T Washington might be more appropriate. Nothing wrong with Obama at the end of the day and students are surely more able to relate to Obama that people from the past.

So they changed it from one traitor's name to another. Not every smart.

Huh. Remind me again of how many times he was removed from office for not following the law?

But the first black president, and one who was a once-in-a-generation orator who conducted his office with grace and honor, is not a good choice?

See, that's the problem when one pays attention so much to right-wing media - one hears a steady drumbeat of how terrible the liberal du jour is, but one is never told what that liberal has done that is good and right.
I am sure every loony leftist feels that way about Obama.

Other than the fact that Obama never committed treason, you've got a rock solid argument!

And not 'every smart'?

Yeah....

He let ISIS grow into a serious threat, he gave weapons to questionable people in Syria and he coddled our enemies Iran and Cuba.

There's gotta be treason in there somewhere.

Anything other than Barack Hussein Obama... the first black President of the United States.

Yawn. Despite your desperate need for it, he hasn't committed treason and you cannot demonstrate that he has.

A. He didn't 'let' anything happen. Or are you claiming someone else 'let' 9/11 happen?
B. Republicans give weapons to questionable people ("The Contras' ring any bells?) and you're silent
C. He didn't coddle them, but you go on fantasizing that he did if it makes you feel nice.

lol

His history yes, but not his academic history.

You said "brilliant academic career".

Nobody knows what he got as far as grades go. He never released his transcripts.

The fct that he graduated does not mean he had a "brilliant academic career".
