Thomas the Tank Engine gets two female trains as show is overhauled for a new generation

Bargh....first it was letting the colored folk be characters on a white tv show....then they let ‘em have their own tv shows! Then, my God, they allowed the gays in too, and before you knew it there was Will & Grace. By God the world is going to ****!

If I recall correctly from when my son was in preschool (about 2006), the show had two female characters. One was a train, the other was the wife of the guy with a top hat.

I see no problem with adding more female characters, but it seems unnecessary to remove two of the male characters in the process.

If I was a writer, having more characters with different personalities would provide me with additional opportunities to create a variety of stories.

Its a kid show too many characters doesnt seme like a good idea, they try to keep these things faitly simple so the youngins can follow it easily

I don't see the problem with taking such real issues listed on their page and turning them into learning opportunities for small children.
 
In 10 years, we won't give a crap if Thomas the Train has girl coworkers or if the Boy Scouts is just the Scouts or if bathrooms are non-gendered. It only pisses you guys off because its a change. Let it go. You will be happier if you do. In a decade, it'll just be the norm.

The problem is they say "decent" economic growth. We should have economic growth at all costs like Trump wants! RAAR! Screw the planet and the coast lines and all the under developed nations!
 
I like the old Thomas the tank engine when they used actual model trains. They didn't treat you like an idiot by watching it. Then later on they dumb it down onto when thet started animating their shows. Then they started to make the show a little more tolerable with their British narrator. I didn't liked the fact that they over exaggerate the brakings, but now with their new movie the trains moving their bodies like Chugginton. That triggers me.

Along with ships, engines and cars are routinely described as "she". Thomas and the guys on Sodor are the exception, shunting those helpless female carriages around. Annie and Clarabell get pushed and pulled by everyone!

Jesus!! I thought I’ve seen everything.

So, if this upsets you, you can always apply to the show, and ask for a position as a choo choo train genital inspector, making sure all the little trains have penises. I think you might get laughed out of the interview room, though. But there is a silver lining. You will end up with your 15 minutes of fame on America's Funniest Videos. :mrgreen:

Note: If they should ever put a gay train in that show, I am going to run as far from you as possible, as fast as possible. I don't want blood all over me when your head explodes. LOL.
