FBI Kept Russian Bribery Plot Under Wraps Before Obama Administration Approved Nuclear Deal With Moscow

A confidential U.S. witness deployed by the FBI infiltrated Russia’s nuclear industry and made secret recordings, collected financial records and intercepted emails dating back to 2009 that showed that Moscow engaged in bribery and kickbacks with an American uranium trucking company, documents show. But the Obama administration insisted no evidence existed of Russian interference and that there were no national security concerns for committee members to go against the deal in 2010.

The deal that boosted Vladimir Putin’s nuclear footprint in the U.S. took place in October 2010 when the State Department and the Committee on Foreign Investment unanimously agreed to a partial sale of Uranium One, a Canadian mining company, to the major Russian nuclear company Rosatom, effectively sending more than 20 percent of the U.S.’s uranium to Moscow. In 2011, the Obama administration gave the green light for Rosatom’s Tenex subsidiary to sell uranium to American nuclear power plants. Before the deal, Tenex could only sell reprocessed uranium from dismantled Soviet nuclear firearms to power plants in the U.S.

Russian exortion threats and kickbacks brought legitimate national security concerns, "And none of that evidence got aired before the Obama administration made those decisions,” a souce who insisted on anonymity out of fear of retribution told The Hill.

Well, ****. If it were Trump I would be posting this sucker, and I will post it when it is the Clinton's. Time to find out who knew what and when they knew t, and deal appropriately.

I am seriously glad I am an independent. I knew the Clintons were dirty, Doesn't make me hate Trump any less - just makes me want to go nuclear on my own govt. Lock them all up!

I read what you posted here and I don't see the word "Clinton" in it whatsoever.

Edit - never mind, I see state dept. Under Obama so yeah...never mind.

They weren't.

The Clintons had nothing to do with the deal, the uranium was never exported out of the US, nor was any of the money claimed to have come from these investors actually connected to the uranium deal at all.

It's one of those stories that's supposed to prove the Clintons are some mafia style criminal masterminds, that doesn't actually have anything to do with them. Unfortunately, it's going to take on a life of it's own, and spread around for some time to come.

Yeah I was thinking to myself (at least after reading the snippet the poster provided) how this is somehow an indictment on the Clintons when the article wasn't about the Clintons. It seemed like quite the stretch. I do understand that the whole uranium deal is sometimes made out to sound like Hillary personally sailed a freighter of uranium over to Russia and said "enjoy comrades! I hate America!". But anyhow, this whole OP is very confusing.

Wonder if you would be saying the same thing if trump or his associates were known to be involved. My guess is heck no.

Strange, I found them mentioned twice in the article -

FBI agents also gathered documents and a witness account that Russian officials routed millions of dollars to ex-President Bill Clinton’s charitable foundation while Secretary of State Hillary Clinton sat on a committee that gave a nod to the dealings with Moscow.

Like the Obama administration, the Clintons said there was no evidence to prompt them to go the other way on the Uranium One deal.

Right, I said "in what was posted".

Somewhat of a tacet admittance to not clicking the link.

The Clintons are in bed with big pharma and Wall Street, not Russia or Putin -- that's Trump and gang.

Russian collusion anyone?

Trump Russian collusion? Nada.

Accusing others of what you yourself are doing, is what this looks like.

It appears as if the Clintons are in bed with whomever offers them suspiciously large piles of money;

Russian nuclear officials had routed millions of dollars to the U.S. designed to benefit former President Bill Clinton's charitable foundation during the time Secretary of State Hillary Clinton served on a government body that provided a favorable decision to Moscow, sources told The Hill.

On Thursday, hacked emails from WikiLeaks suggest that is precisely what happened when the king of Morocco agreed to host a Clinton Global Initiative summit and give $12 million, but only if Hillary Clinton attended the May 2015 meeting.

If she took kickback and it can be proven then by all means, prosecute her ass all you want.

I'm no Clinton supporter so I don't care.

Pay to Play in action right there. Takes a special case of denial to pretend for one moment that any of these big money Clinton Foundation donors wouldn't be lining up at the White House back door looking for their presidential quid pro quo.

The nation dodged a bullet not electing Hilary.

There's pay for play in the Trump gang, in case you haven't noticed.

Jared Kushner's family business took advantage of his WH status to get investors from China via the EB-5 program, then Kushner himself solicited the head of the Russian bank VEB for financing concerning his family business. Michael Flynn took kickbacks from Turkey to represent their interests in the US, and he and Kushner represented Russian interests in an effort to bring nuclear power to Saudi Arabia. Paul Manafort used his status in the Trump campaign to repay debt from a Russian oligarch. Then lets not forget Michael Cohen and Felix Sater trying to get financing for several Trump licensed real estate while they were campaigning.

Literally everything you could accuse Clinton of doing, the Trump gang is openly guilty of ten fold.

Yeah - they were. I hate it as much as you do, but if we are gonna look at corruption we need to look at both sides.

There's enough circumstantial evidence there for me to support an investigation. That doesn't make me a Trump supporter - nor do I believe investigation into Trump will clear him. But if I support investigating one side and wave away the other side then I'm supporting the same old crap that is destroying our country!

And the link to The Hill which broke the story - FBI uncovered Russian bribery plot before Obama administration approved controversial nuclear deal with Moscow

The only story here is that US businesses were bribing Russians in exchange for no-bid contracts. Other than that, just random insertion of the same Clinton Foundation nonsense that was thoroughly refuted three years ago.

"family business" vs first person.
Michael Flynn fired / resigned.
Paul Manafort fired / resigned.

How many millions was Bill and The Clinton Foundation paid off?

Doesn't add up to "ten fold", if you ask me, and still doesn't amount to selling the country down the river for one's own benefit. But who knows what the future might hold. Still, a known liar and crook vs one less so.

It's true. All presidential elections are a choice between two ****ty choices. At least this time seems like the electorate chose the lesser.

I might be consider slightly deplorable, but I'm no Tumpster. I still only give him a 5 or 6 out of 10, so far.

I don't hate it in fact, I actually despise the Clintons. They are reprehensible people for the policy they openly support: anit-gay marriage, DADT, mandatory drug sentencing, privatization of the prisons, support of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, supporting the PATRIOT act, etc.

If they went down it wouldn't hurt me one bit. However, we've been down these rabbit holes before with giant investigations like Whitewater, and they always turn out to be busts.

Its actually 2 related stories. One is the FBI had a current investigation into Russian offiials participating in bribes, kick backs, extortion and money laundering to grow Putins atomic energy bussiness in the US but for some reason never contacted Congress or anyone in the WH before this deal was OKed by the Obama administration

The other is Hillary Clinton served on the Govt body that approved this deal while Russian nuclear officials were routing millions of dollars to the Clinton foundation.

I don't hate it because it's the Clinton - I never had a doubt that they were dirty. I hate it because it's more govt corruption and payoffs.

On the national stage that is Washington DC, nothing is what it appears to be.

There's Russian collusion, alright. Not so much Trump/Russian collusion, though.

Well, I guess if journalists got anything right it's there was collusion, but the wrong administration. Makes me wonder now the reason why they wanted Trump under the gun was to avoid being discovered that it was the Obama administration doing all these deals with Russia. "It's a fake story. Trump is the real villain in all this. You're just saying that because you're a partisan hack. SCREW YOU!" Only problem is the Mueller investigation has turned up zilch in his investigation into Trump, and it's been nearly a year now since this investigation began. Every time Obama's name is brought up, evidence starts rolling in (unintentionally by these people). I don't know if it'll happen, but I think it's time to put Obama in the hot chair now to be grilled with questions. Maybe in the process, reopen the Benghazi (as a reminder, it's been 5 years and no one has been brought in as suspects that were part of the attack, that left 4 Americans dead, so let that sink in again). I doubt it'll happen, but you never know. Anyway, isn't great Leftists are so willing to give away our supplies and money to countries that want to kill us (or at least contemplated on it)? I feel so much safer knowing that.

Sessions was asked about this by Grassley in the hearing today

Sessions replied the DOJ will take " appropriate actions " but couldnt comment on ongoing investigations...

Fingers crossed !

Does anyone know who was the director of the FBI in 2011?
