Comey drafted letter on Clinton email investigation before completing interviews, FBI confirms | Fox News

The FBI released documents Monday proving former FBI Director James Comey began drafting a letter regarding Hillary Clinton's email investigation months before conducting several key interviews, including speaking to Clinton herself.
The document release was titled “Drafts of Director Comeys July 5, 2016 Statement Regarding Email Server Investigation Part 01 of 01.”
The contents of the email were largely unclear as nearly all of it was redacted. The now-public records show the email titled “Midyear Exam --- UNCLASSIFIED” was sent by Comey on May 2, 2016, to Deputy Director Andrew McCabe, general counsel James Baker and chief of staff and senior counselor James Rybicki.

On May 16, the documents showed a response email from Rybicki, saying “Please send me any comments on this statement so we may roll into a master doc for discussion with the Director at a future date. Thanks, Jim.”

Well I guess with all these investigations regarding Comey and Clinton and collusion with the Russians, this was going to pop up again. Looks like Comey really did have his mind already up very early and was having memos drafted.

I guess you missed the large thread on this issue posted a few weeks ago

For only the tenth time...

to the OP:

You need to familiarize yourself with the definition of the word "draft."

& also acquaint yourself with what is standard procedure for many in positions such as Comey, up to and including judges, who often draft preliminary opinions prior to oral arguments.

Smart people think ahead and prepare. A notion those in our current leadership (and quite a few connies) seem unaware and incapable of.

This does not mean the decision has been made, it means legal opinions, citations that may be challenged in court, etc., are necessarily outlined.

That link shows me some emails with the subject 'Midyear Exams'. (like your post says)
What am I missing that proves what the Fox News article says it does?

Would be interested to know what judge draft opinions prior to hearing oral arguments. Would be hard for that judge to say he/she went into a trial with an open mind.

Have you ever read a legal brief? A court opinion? I mean ever??

It builds on facts known, prior court citations, and a myriad of basic legal principles that neither exonerate, indict or judge guilt. That lays the groundwork for facts entered into evidence as the case is built.

C'mon, this is like high school grade stuff -- it's not that hard to process.

This reminds me of how every year people claim the super bowl was fixed because the winning team had "super bowl champion" shirts already produced before the game started.

Non-partisan, non-political response: Who in their professional lives hasn't drafted letters supporting opposing conclusions? It saves a great deal of time and truthfully it is much easier to draft the letters ahead of time and edit the appropriate letter when the moment comes, as it inevitably will.

Draft? More like “How am I going to put this on paper and keep my law license”.

What is the Justice Department afraid of? It’s not like Clinton, Inc. has nuclear weapons.

You have no idea how the real world works, do you?

Perhaps for some cons a graduation above "do you want fries with that" may give some education.

I am more interested in Dad and Jr writing that letter full of fibs in regards to a meeting with a Russian. Mueller has also found it VERY interesting. Comeys letter on Hilldog, not so interesting, unless your a Rightie desperate for ANY diversion.

See you at the hearings !!

Apply some logic. Did he also have drafts ready to call for her indictment and guilt? If he didn't, what does that say?

They don't go in with an open mind. We all have opinions and beliefs. They are created by events in our past. It is called prejudice when we make assumptions without the facts. We pre judge. It could save your life to pre judge all snakes as deadly even though they are not. Better to be prejudice than to try to pick up a rattlesnake because you never seen one before.

" Smart people " like Comey ? Sure, he was just really prepared...Lol !

Lets just forget that he took it upon himself to decide whether or not the DOJ would prosecute

Uhhh Judges are not supposed to write briefs or opinions on the merits of a case prior to trial or hearing

work.

One word: Fenton.

Sorry, Im just not as naive as the average Liberal, who actually believes this was just Comey being super prepared....Lol

Hey, were's the draft that recomends prosecution ? Or did he not even bother ?

Clearly it's you who doesn't understand since you're admonishing people about judicial opinions which aren't issued prior to hearing or trial, someone is confused how things worked, but it's not who you think.

There was also nothing illegal involving the Russian

You have no idea what you're talking about, and it might behoove you to have a small child guide you to the word "draft" in the dictionary .

Maybe you should look up "misconduct" while we're playing that game

Because writing a draft prior to investigation which you later clear based on that draft is exactly that
