KIRKUK, Iraq — Hours after moving to reclaim control of the northern city of Kirkuk, Iraqi government forces said Monday that they had reached the outskirts of the city, seizing oil fields and other important sites from Kurdish forces that had held the territory since 2014.

The quick advance pitted one American-trained military force against another. Iraqi government troops and the Kurdish forces, known as pesh merga, are both part of the American-led coalition battling the Islamic State, also known as ISIS or ISIL.

Thanks for the blood you spilled fighting ISIS that was coming for Baghdad. Oh by the way, you are second rate citizens and be prepared to be treated like you were prior to 2003.

I smell civil war.

The Kurdish forces are the ones who actually have a stable government and are willing to fight terrorists and radical Islamic terrorists. The legitimate government of Iraq is corrupt and will side with terrorists at the drop of a hat. Ironic that the Iraqi government is "seizing the oil". It's almost as if that's something the U.S. should have done in the first place during the Bush years.
