When it came time for her First Communion, a major event for Cady, she naturally started thinking early about what she wanted to wear on the big day. She settled on a brand-new all-white suit.

But then word got out at her Catholic school about Cady’s planned attire. School officials told Cady’s parents that she couldn’t participate in First Communion with the rest of her class unless she wore a skirt or dress. When the Mansells dug in their heels, insisting that their daughter should wear the outfit she had picked out for her special day, the argument escalated quickly — to the point that the Mansells pulled their daughters out of the school and the church altogether.

“It made me sad and mad,” Cady said. “We should all be equal and wear what we would like.”
“We have a dress code in place for our school. We consistently enforce that,” she said. “Oftentimes you’ll get somebody who wants to wear sneakers instead of dress shoes, or a purple shirt instead of a white shirt.”
Crap- Did Jesus have a dress code?
Did John the Baptist care what one was wearing?
I am a Christian, and I can recall people talking about what a person was wearing.
I refer to these as Sunday Morning Christians.
They practice Religion for 1 hr or so on Sunday and forget it for the rest of the week.
Crap like this is so upsetting, and ones that practice this crap drives people away from religion.
Oh the horror, Jesus -God must be so upset that someone wore a purple shirt instead of a white one for Communion.
Yes I am aware that people will stand up and state, rules are rules.
Would Jesus care, is what I ask them?

Jesus would say that men are men and women are women.

This was one of the reasons I left the Catholic church. The break up was complete when they wouldn't christen my daughter because my husband was Methodist. They said he had to 'convert'. I said, nevermind. Outside they had a big sign "All are Welcome".
A good friend of mine had lost her son at a couple of months old. She asked for a priest for last rites for him at the hospital, but they refused because he wasn't christened yet. This was years ago, thought things would change but I guess they haven't.

Keep chasing those people away!

I think it is a matter of respect for where you are and in who's presence you are in...I don't like to see women or men dress down to go to God's house...

Who knows? Assuming she's trans and therefore unworthy of any rights is a big assumption.

She knew there was a dresscode. What made her think it didn't apply to her?

Can ya tell me what his dress code was?
Seeing as he preached to and associated with those that society set on their lowest levels of disgust, tax collectors, prostitutes and the poor.

I can tell you what the church's dresscode was.

Jesus preached to everyone.

While I have left the Church as in not attending, I still speak to God daily. I will not let those types interfere with what I believe.

My Mothers sister, married a Catholic, had to convert, and we were all Protestant.
Lived side by side, this occurred in the 50's, when they were married.
No issues. We were raised differently.

Did Jesus have a dress code?
Should a Church prevent someone from entering based upon dress codes?
Those that have the, and I include this one mentioned in the OP, have strayed far afield from his teachings.

Really, would you turn a street person, poorly dressed away from the House of God?
What is the dress code needed to pray at your church?
It is what is in ones heart, not what one wears that is important.

This looks like a 15 minutes of fame set up.

I would not consider wearing pants...I like to dress like the woman that I am...

Well, I guess she chose what was more important to her. Clothes, or her first communion.

That's good for you and your choice. She chose not to, but she was not dressing down.

Missing the point.
Should communions, attending church have a dress code?

Far to many have drifted from the teachings of Jesus.
