Black Man Beaten During Charlottesville Rally Charged With Felony

Based on the video it's likely a flashlight. Anyway, the police apparently found enough evidence that they were convinced.

Sure didn’t look like something as harmless as a flag. Reminds me why I only do GFM for people I know personally.

A metal flashlight in the daytime during a riot and they want to claim he is innocent? Seems sketchy to me.

Sorry, I worded that poorly. Deandre beat a man that was holding a flag with what looks like a flashlight.

You know, I've seen this headline on a few websites and every one had something similar to "Arrest Warrant Issued For Black Man Beaten By White Supremacists".

That gives a first impression that the poor guy is now being abused by law enforcement, after being beaten. That's our news media.

If you read the article it sounds a lot like it's all still up in the air. It's a little odd that months later this defendant comes forward and goes on the offensive saying that he's the victim. I'm not sure how you know that "justice is finally being done".
 
There is another side to this story which doesn't quite fit the dreams of the person who started the thread.

Charlottesville magistrate issues warrant for black victim of parking garage beating

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. -- Deandre Harris, a black man whose brutal beating at the hands of Charlottesville white supremacists was captured on video, is now wanted on charges of unlawful wounding in connection to the Aug. 12 incident.

A magistrate, not the police department, issued the warrant, although a news release said police officers had verified other video that led to the arrest. Harris is accused of attacking a man in the group that beat him.

Harris' attorney, Lee Merritt, who called the charge a "clearly retaliatory" effort from white supremacists after Harris used social media to identify suspects in the beating, said his client would turn himself in within 24 hours.

Journalist Chuck Modi posted video of the attack, which took place in a parking garage near the University of Virginia campus, on Twitter. In the clip, white supremacist marchers -- some in white polos, some in riot gear -- beat Harris with signs and poles while he struggles to stand.

an interesting side bit in this report on the arrest warrant for Mr Harris.
A local magistrate issued an arrest warrant Monday for DeAndre Harris on a charge of unlawful wounding after a man, identified by Harris’s attorney as Harold Ray Crews, reported that he was injured by the 20-year-old during the August brawl. Crews, who describes himself as a “Southern Nationalist” and an attorney on Twitter, did not return phone calls seeking comment.

The magistrate’s charge against Harris, who suffered a spinal injury and a head laceration that required 10 stitches, came less than 48 hours after a second rally by white supremacists and white nationalists in Charlottesville and caught the city’s police department by surprise.

“We were not expecting this. We were expecting to do our own investigation into the man’s allegations,” said Detective Sgt. Jake Via, who is supervising the parking garage case.

In video of the parking garage fight, the man identified as Crews tries to spear a counterprotester with the pole of a Confederate flag. Harris retaliates, swinging a flashlight at Crews, appearing to strike him. But Harris’s attorney, Merritt, said that the flashlight failed “to make significant contact” and that Crews was injured in a separate incident that did not involve Harris.

Within seconds of Harris swinging the flashlight, he was kicked to the ground by a group of six white supremacists, who began hitting him with wooden sticks and a large board. In the video, the man activists have identified as Goodwin, clad in military tactical gear, kicks Harris. At one point, he appears to strike Harris with his shield. As the fight is ending, a counterprotester sucker-punches Goodwin’s helmeted head.

The one who had won the favored "VICTIM" label not being being then automatically considered innocent of all possible wrongs is sure a kick in the shorts.

Victim Culture does not allow what has been done here.

Thus the outrage.
