Up to 50 people may give evidence in March as the Vatican official fights charges of sexual assault.

With all of the smoke,I'm sure that there's a fire.

It will be interesting to see how the Pope deals with this guy after he's convicted.

Sounds like a good case for excommunication to me.

Joan of Arc was burned at the stake for doing nothing evil and this guy has done a lot of evil things.

I expect he will repent, if convicted. That would mean no excommunication would be called for. But he would lose his job.

Has he really done evil things? I usually don't follow yellow press type news and only saw the headlines. When is this all supposed to have occurred?

Cardinal Pell is actually the third most powerful person in the Catholic Church. It's a big news story here as he is an Australian. His committal hearing is in March and then based on evidence/statements presented, a decision will be handed down as to whether or not to proceed to trial.

Over a long period of time.He is a serial abuser of young boys.Read his wikipedia entry.

He should be kicked out of the priesthood and locked up for a long time.He ruined many young peoples lives for his own sick pleasure.I believe that he'll get what he deserves from the court in Australia but it will be interesting to see how the Pope deals with this criminal.

Disgusting. The guy has already stated that he made "enormous mistakes" regarding removing child molesting priests that he was in charge of.

The Catholic church has shown that they no longer serve a real purpose in this world. If you want to preach morality then you must be able to at least get right that children must be protected from child rapists.
