GOP Rep. Tim Murphy resigns after reports he asked mistress to get abortion [W:54]

I should have made this comment earlier.
My point is that people like yourself make out this kind of thing to be huge issue, but ignore even worse behavior by the people you vote for. What's your opinion on the Mayor of Portland getting elected after openly admitting that he made out with a minor in a restroom?? What's your opinion of the Portland voters who elected him in spite of this gross moral failing??

Start a thread on it. I have no idea of any of that.

You are basically you are immune to right wing hypocrisy because its no big deal to you.

Why didn't the DNC demand that he step down???

Its' never enough eh? You drone on and on about how the dems skate by while the poor GOP has to face consequences. Meanwhile your example boy William Jefferson is in jail. Anthony Weiner is in jail. Both in sitting in there and blowing up your whole schtick... which of course is to play the victim on yours and the GOPs behalf.

Yep, reprehensible, and he resigned over it....As he should have...My point is that he resigned over the allegation that this happened, do you see Menendez doing the same for the allegation of bribery? Hell no....Seems like the old Alinsky tactic of holding your opposition to their own utterances, when you don't have to....Pure hypocrisy....

He resigned over the allegation because we had the ****ING TEXT RECORDS. He was busted and he knew it. He would have denied it like most politicians if he could have.
Menendez claims he's not guilty, he'll see is day in court. Of course, unless you want to pre-judge him, how American of you....

You have to admit that the hypocrisy of it all is hilarious. We have right wing politicians that continually campaign on an already 45 year old settled U.S. Supreme court issue to get VOTES and DONATIONS. Many of their constiutents-actually believing that these politicians can do something about abortion--& they never stop talking about it.:2rofll: They never STOP.

Even during the campaign season--many voted for Trump simply because they were scared to death of who Hillary Clinton would have picked. Well Trump picked Niel Gorsuch---a district court judge that Hillary Clinton actually voted FOR in 2006, and one that Democrats could have rejected back then because they were the majority in the Senate-

The only reason Democrats tried to block Niel Gorsuch is because Republicans didn't give Obama's last nominee, Merrick Garland an up or down vote and instead used the US Supreme court to campaign on. They clearly liked Neil Gorsuch, and ironically Republicans liked Merrick Garland.

In fact, Niel Gorsuch is the 1st nominee in my memory that stated Roe V Wade is precedent in the Constitution, meaning set in stone.
Judge Neil Gorsuch said Tuesday the controversial Supreme Court decision that legalized abortion is “precedent” and acknowledged the ruling had been reaffirmed “many times.”

But you watch they'll be back in 2018 campaigning on abortion again, never realising that it was the reason Mitt Romney lost in 2012.

The GOP's woman problem goes beyond Trump - LA Times

While at the same time they have awoken a sleeping giant in this country, and it's pissed. This is the consequence of campaigning on women's issues. You're not going to get away with insulting the intelligence & integrity of the largest voting block in this country without paying a heavy price for it.

The woman's march, the day after Trump was inaugurated. This was going on in every state, not just Washington D.C. They were clearly in the millions, for more pictures go to this link.

If he were a liberal, he'd probably get a leadership post.

He was in a leadership post. Leading Republican morals.

The Anthony Wiener case defies your claim. At least he, as much a scumbag as he is and is Murphy, did not expound such hypocrisy as did Murphy.

I clearly stated that his stepping down is good thing. Just because I don't feel obligated to start a thread about it, doesn't mean that I don't care about it. In this case, the guy was wrong and he stepped down - even though there was no legal requirement for him to do so and he had nothing illegal. THat's it. End of story until people start trying to make it sound like this is huge thing and then I get to point THEIR hypocrisy, founded in the multiple high profile instances of pols. on "their" side doing far worse and not only not resigning, but getting re-elected.

Jefferson is in jail now, but he was re-elected AFTER he had been caught red-handed with the bribe money and AFTER he had abused his power by the NG after Katrina.

He broke no laws, yet he's being treated like a criminal. But a Dem. politician like Jefferson breaks the law and grossly abuses his power, he gets re-elected.

No he didn't break the law, you're absolutely right. Problem is many republicans vote to restrict abortion, and even seek to outlaw abortion when it's used as birth control and turn it into a heinous criminal act, Murphy being one of them.
