The complaints are not about speaking now. The complaints are about the years (decades?) of knowing silence.

Thats just not true. If it was the NYTs wouldnt have buried this story back in 2004 and NBC wouldnt have rejected Ronan Farrows piece months ago

NBCs News cheif told a bald face lie for why they rejected it, and forced Farrow to go to the New Yorker for publication.

As for Hollywood, Ive always known it was rotten to the core.
When you have that much money, power and influence and fame in a isolated and insulated community with no moral anchor to govern people's behaviour, your'e going to see abuse and lawlessness on this scale.

But that never stopped Hollywood celebrities from lecturing the rest of America on everything from gun laws to Womens rights.
That blatant hypocrisy that Ive always known existed, is now out in the open for everyone else to see

My own views are captured in #307 and #308. The New York Times and the New Yorker​ found it newsworthy. Now HW's former friends and clients can't get away fast enough.

The use of the word “purge” and “Puritanism” tells me that people don’t think it’s a big deal, and only old fuddy duddies care about it. In reality he is a metaphor for the “new” democrat party.

Actually I think I am the only one who says that, I am the only one who is pointing out that what we are seeing is a Hollywood Cleansing Action done with purpose, because patience has has run out that women dont do better in Hollywood....it must be the fault of men...and it must be made "right".

This has nothing to do with Priest or the Catholic Church

This has to do with Hollywood, its connection to the Democratic party, a cover up by Left wing media outlets and quite a bit of hypocrisy

80% of Evangelicals in this country voted for Donald Trump. He's just another Harvey Wienstein, and there were plenty of women who have in the past been his victims. Trump used to hang around Hollywood acting sets, and he is on video recording stating what he did to unsuspecting women. He Sexually assaulted them. It didn't matter if they were married or not, how old they were, he is a sexual predator.

Trump's been on the Howard Stern radio program for years talking about his sexcapades and bragging about his xtramarital affairs. You had better dam well hope that Howard Stern doesn't decide to release those--or someone else doesn't get their hands on them.

Well he does lie. And he does boast. But between him confessing and some of the girls have cone forward, then yeah, I believe it.

I am just talking about the astounding hypocrisy of the right wing and the Evangelicals in this country that overwhelmingly (80%) voted for Trump. They elected a Harvey Weinsten in Donald Trump. They knew they were voting for a Harvey Weinstein.

Right now, Larry Flynt has put out a 10 million dollar offer on a head hunt of Trump. Trump was on the Howard Stern program on many occasions bragging about his sex capades and extramarital affairs. He said a lot of vulgar things about women. If you want locker room talk, the Howard Stern program was notably the radio station to tune into. Howard Stern refused to release those interviews during the campaign season, but 10 million may be a little too much for him to turn down.

I'm curious, is what Hugh Hefner did really all that different from Harvey Weinstein? Both used their money and power to bed women that would otherwise not sleep with them.

I think the difference is people came to Hefner with intention of nudity and sex. Where as Weinstein used his acting leverage to convince or coerce Hollywood actors into nudity and sex, or halt reporting his unwanted advances. Hefner would probably kick Weinstein out of his party.

Like he tried to rope normal people into his perversion where as Hefner only recruited open perverts.
