‘Death spiral’: Tillerson makes nice but may not last long with Trump

Tillerson will no doubt "resign" soon enough, despite his pathetic groveling statement yesterday

I remember how much the left hated the appointment of Tillerson. Now hes their best friend.

yes, funny how that works. We did want people that were capable and willing to stand up to Trumpty Dumpty. He proved to be both (though his impromptu news conference yesterday makes me wonder if he really can stand up to him). He is still not my choice for a SoS, but at least he is committed to the process of diplomacy and willing to do the right thing, even if it comes at a political cost.

I did not like the appointment of Mattis either for SoD, but for the reasons outlined above, I have come to have great respect for him.

As to some of Trump*s other appointments, namely Bannon, Flynn, Price, the kids, Sessions, Mnunchin, DeVos and Pruitt were bad choices, most of whom will come back to haunt Trump*.

I think you are correct.

Tillerson sounded confident and competent at yesterday's Press Conference. I just do not believe Tillerson spoke truthfully.

If Tillerson, as widely reported by the Press prior to and even after the Press Conference, truly has a strained relationship with Trump, I expect a replacement within the next few months.

Tillerson, Gen. Mattis, Lt. Gen McMaster, Admiral Rogers, Gen. Kelly, Nikki Haley.... all of them... would conspire in a heartbeat if they truly felt a specific decision by Trump posed an egregious threat to our National Security and World Order. We would not have to wait for Congress to act.

yes, I think it is the hope of many to most of us that there is a rational inner circle that will do the right thing. I wonder, however, if our hopes are just only that.

Tillerson didn't realize he was going to have to be a trump toadie in order to keep the job...It obvious he loathes what he has to do....So groveled before the cameras for the good of the "party"...He'll be gone soon enough

When I see what kind of foreign policy Obama had, I can see clearly what kind of people he had there. Sending the President on an apology tour got him feigned respect and probably laughs behind the scenes. If this is who we have in the State Dept, good luck.

Amazing that with Donald Trump as your currrent president you are under some impression even if what you say is true... That the world has stopped laughing.

They’re laughing harder at the imbecile in chief you have elected who lumbers from one **** up to the next and who’s excellent handling as an example of the Gulf Crisis has forced the Saudi King to visit Moscow for the first time in the Kingdoms history due to Trumps erratic foreign policy.
