Zinke chartered flight in oil executive's plane for $12,000: report

And the funny thing is they are going to say "this is blaming it on Obama" or "This is blaming it on Hillary" when oin fact...no...its not blaming the acts of anyone...it is pointing out the hypocrisy of people that spent 8 years of the previous administration fawning over them and making excuses for every ethical breach that are now desperate to fund SOMETHING.

Pretense of concern about conflict of interest...riiiiiiiiiiiiiiight. But the Clinton speaking schedule as Sec State, and selling access to the State Dept...why...thats just...nothing.

Selling access?...You have proof?......No because none exists except in the mind of the Alt Right conspiracy freaks

Not PERSONAL schedule. You threw that part in to try and make it look bad. It's the professional schedule that is a problem. If you leave a meeting in one city at this time, and have to be at a meeting in another city at this time, there are times the schedules will not meet up. Keep in mind WE are going to use this if the Democrats ever regain any power at the federal level. We will question every flight, every office supply order...

The leg of the trip that we (based on the OP) are questioning is a trip home from Las Vegas. That sounds incredibly personal to me.

Maybe he needed to change clothes, let the dog out, pick up a presentation, who knows... But if this is all you all can find to hate on... Keep on. Here's the #PettyAward

"Butbutbut Hillary!"
"Butbutbut Obama!"
"Is it illegal?"

Yeesh.

Oh, sorry. okay. I think it's rampant. You're link says it isn't. An investigation will tell the tale.

Well, it certainly seems to be rampant now. This is the third time someone has been caught abusing tax payer money for personal use of resources.

And again, that really shouldn't be surprising, considering that Trump was sent to Washington to "shake things up," not to be ethical.

In what way? Companies list their airplanes with chartering companies. Customers go to the chartering companies to buy a charter. I don't know whether or not the charter company chooses the plane or the customer since I don't charter them myself. This sounds like a complaint without a problem. The problem is that he chartered the jet in the first place.

I just seems pretty damn fishy to me. As I pointed out earlier, I don't even so much as take a lunch from a vendor because I consider it unethical so personally I would not be on a chartered plane owned by the execs in an industry that spends hundreds of millions of dollars a year on lobbying and other attempts to influence government policy.

You got to be kidding me. As I pointed out earlier, vendors constantly offer to buy me lunch, take me to games, give me opening day tickets, fly me out to various conferences and so on, and I never take them up on any of it because I consider it unethical.

Moreover, any time I travel for my company I always look for the most inexpensive flights, stay in reasonably priced lodging, and eat reasonably priced meals - always spending far less than I am allotted for travel because I consider needlessly spending my employer's money to be unethical.

Spending 12k for a chartered flight on an oil industry execs plane when the same flights are available for 300 dollars commercially is a serious lack of ethics.

When Bill and Hillary fly they are required to compensate the government for the cost of a plane ticket. The same as any other former president and first lady. My point was that the Carters fly commercial, should it be required of everyone? You threw out that a former Sec did it. DeVos pays for her own travel, should everyone have to because she does it?

According to the Congressional Research Service, $0 of public funds have been appropriated for Bill Clinton's travel over the FY16-FY18 periods. Same was true in FY15. I'll go out on a limb and suppose that was probably also true in prior years.

Since the taxpayers are financing none of it, I don't care how much Bill's flights cost him.

Do you think that the Secretary even knew who owned the plane? Someone on his staff charters it and he flies. Do you think the plane is even in the name of the executive or a holding company of some sorts?

I have no idea if he did or did not, but I would be surprised if he didn't know who owned it. Particularly considering the amount of money the oil industry spends lobbying and buying influence with government in a given year. At any rate, it looks bad and that is the point. People that make small unethical decisions also tend to make big unethical decisions.

Really? Who owns N757AF which is registered to DJT OPERATIONS I LLC, DOVER , DE, US. They want to lease it. Will you worry about who owns the company or who the officers are? Did you have to look that up to see who it was?

You're probably correct that it was (to their eyes) the best available charter option at the time.

But if there was evidence that they gave him a free ride, it would be a sign they were trying to curry favor. If we overpaid when there were cheaper options, it could indicate a sop to a political friend. Zinke does have business connections to the oil industry.

You are correct that it's a side issue at best, and the main event is the waste of government money to make this goofball's life moderately more convenient.

Goodness knows we couldn't expect him to work out of a luxury hotel room overnight and take the next available commercial flight just to save ~10k of tax payer money.

According to his Wikipedia article, this guy's a combat veteran, so that's to his credit. Even more interestingly, when he was a SEAL, he supposedly overcharged the government $211 for travel expenses, which held up a promotion.

You'd think he'd have learned that lesson pretty well then.

Dood...you could have been sitting in her office while the deals were going down (and not just bothered to take the time to read emails) and you would still deny it.

Rats love their sycophants.

You don't know that. Not at all. And if Price has written a check back for $51,000, what does that tell you an investigation will turn up? I just hope "they" investigate it fairly and include the Obama White House.
I know thats (NOT "waiting" and "seeing") what is happening in the article cited and in this thread.

Yeah...You have NO proof...But continue to babble...We need the laughs

They paid for the charter. It wasn't provided for free. It was a business transaction. Nothing illegal about lobbying. It is concern without a problem. But you can skip lunch with a vendor if you like or even pay for it yourself. Not a problem. When I was a buyer for a large retailer we were allowed to receive things that were consumed like lunches or food baskets. Hard products like Porsches or Rolexes were forbidden. I believe in ethics for both business and government. I agree that private charters for government employees should be considered unethical. We do agree on that.

I thought about it. I think you are right.

I just pointed out your guy is on track to outspend all of his predecessors on travel expenses and you are saying nothing. So even if the Obama's were inefficient in their use of planes for travel, Trump so far has been an order of magnitude worse in terms of blowing taxpayer money on his travel expenses. Yet all you can do is bring up Obama. It is pathetic.

But...BUT...when Obama was wasting money you...said...nothing.
