Disgraced former U.S. representative Anthony Weiner, whose exchange of illicit messages with a teen wound up playing a critical role in the 2016 presidential election, was sentenced Monday to 21 months in prison, authorities said.

The penalty marks a stunning downfall for the New York Democrat whose propensity for sending lewd photos to women repeatedly derailed his career in politics, and — in a roundabout way — might also have impacted Hillary Clinton’s bid to become president.

Does he also qualify for the sex offenders listing?
 
Just under two years....I wonder how much of that he will actually serve.
 
I don't like the guy in the least but damn, there are pedos all over the country that do much more to much younger victims that never see a day in jail.

Most if not all. Fed sentences are pretty much day for day (meaning no good conduct time off). Ask Michael Vick.

if i recall correctly, this was the second time he was caught
the first instance resulted in his resignation from congress


and why did state department emails wind up being found on his computer - because hillary's staff assistant put them there
don't recall hillary blaming her for causing the election loss
 
Weiner got imprisoned but what will the courts do about that Carlos Danger fella?

Without wanting to condone his behavior, I find that sending lewd material to a minor rather a skimpy crime to justify 21 months in prison. After all, a 15 years old will usually have had sex, I would have thought. So, pictures or descriptions will not probably usually be so new to them.

Despite their behaviors, 90% of adolescents "agree that most young people have sex before they are really ready." The average age of first sexual intercourse in the United States is around 18 for males and around 17 for females, and this has been rising in recent years. ~ wiki

My goodness. That is very late. My cousin was Counsel General and there was a large US military presents in his area. Now this is only anecdotal, but he told me they had one or two girls under 15 that had to be shipped out every month for abortions, because they were forbidden in the jurisdiction at that time.

But say, has that changed? From when I was a kid my impression was that we had all had sex before we got a driver's licence.

Sentencing is based on the crime at hand. And you have to be rather partisan to think sending a 15 years old suggestive texts is worth 21 months. Tasteless and stupid yes. A crime? That seems stupid.

as a father of a daughter, my guess is the 15 year old girl's father found weiner's actions criminal. and the court agreed

We know that the law is, what it is. But neither being emotional nor legal makes something smart.

please share the post where any forum member insisted that for an action to be emotionally taken, or to be found illegal made such action "smart"
