The Situation in Myanmar - who wants 313,000 Muslims?[W:215]

Deflection alert!

Not at all - the fact is that trans-nationalist militants are attempting to bring their jihad to Myanmar, and are destabilizing the area. Naturally, this is causing the people of Myanmar to close ranks against the trans-nationalist threat to their nation.

You can fume impotently from the sidelines, but you won't be able to stop the local people from defending themselves. Anytime someone who isn't from your pet favorite ethnic group gets killed, you'll ignore it, because you only have eyes for your pet favorites. Your bias doesn't give you credibility, and no matter how much you fume and fulminate, it won't change the determination of the local people to defend themselves against trans-nationalist violence, encroachment and colonization.

Actually bud, just as in Bosnia the vicious actions of genocidal thugs has created an opening for terrorist groups to exploit. Had the government of "Myanmar" not been such a brutal bunch of despots, there never would have been a insurgency to begin with. Yet amazingly, trying to wipe out a ethnic group leads to resistance.

No, I personally won't be able to stop your beloved death squads from "defending themselves" from those women and children who have the audacity to exist and not be dead---after the death squadron guys get to rape them, of course-- but others will. And you know what? What they do your heroes will run for the hills as fast as they can, because death squads don't do well against people who can actually fight back.

Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, the widow who defied Burma’s dictators, endured a total of 15 years of house arrest and led a campaign for democracy, was a hero of modern times. Yet today Daw Suu, as the effective leader of Burma, is chief apologist for this ethnic cleansing, as the country oppresses the darker-skinned Rohingya and denounces them as terrorists and illegal immigrants.

She could well be an academic who is way out of touch with what is happening.

Evidently, she recently made a national address in English to the Burmese people regarding the crisis. Needless to say, outside of educated elites, very few Burmese are fluent in English.

I wonder if she truly speaks Burmese? This may sound unlikely, but a recent Indian prime minister candidate was outed for not being able to speak Hindi or any other Indian language. Likewise, I wonder how much time she has spent with ordinary Burmese who are not educated academics.

As soon as you were shown an incident of innocent villagers massacred by Rohingya militants, then you immediately shifted the blame onto the govt. If the article I posted had said the govt did it, then you wouldn't have taken issue with it - but because your preferred pet ethnic group was implicated, then and only then did you seek to deflect culpability onto others. You're seeking to contrive and maintain a particular narrative, and thus any facts that you find inconvenient for this purpose will be denied, disputed or downplayed by you.

You have a prejudicial bias towards a particular ethnicity - ie. you're a racist prejudiced bigot - and you maintain this prejudice under the pretext of fighting prejudice. You're a hypocrite, of course. You're perfectly happy to drum up any caricature against any ethnic group that's in conflict with your pet favorite ethnic group.

The more you promote your prejudice, the less credibility you have.

I pointed out that your beloved "Myanmar" government is so brutal and corrupt it is well within the realm of possibility that they themselves shot the villagers and then convienently blamed it on "rebels". Gee bud, that's because the "Myanmar" government has been committing such atrocities for decades.

Unless what they say is independently confirmed by unbiased sources, there is no reason to take what the government of that state, with its long history of oppression and genocidal tactics, seriously.

Aw buddy, are you finally waking up? That's exactly what you have been doing this entire time.

Ah, yet more shrieks of "racist" from someone obsessed with the ethic grudges back home.

I don't need to "drum up" anything when the actual government of the country is committing such atrocities.

It's not my govt - I'm not from Myanmar - but I know you'll trot out whatever ethnic caricature suits your mood or your expediency of the moment.

The problem is rooted in British colonial rule over the region, under which it brought in outsiders without the consent of the locals.
British colonialism has created problems like this all over the world, including the Israel-Palestine problem.

You're the racist, you're the one who's shrieking. I'm not shrieking, because I'm not looking to get anything done - whatever is happening is happening, and I'm not trying to change the obvious outcome. You're the one who's shrieking, in the hopes that this will help you to impose your preferred outcome on the region. That won't happen - so don't waste your breath. Nobody cares about what you want to shriek about, nobody's going to give you the outcome you want. Myanmar is going to take measures to protect itself from the violent threat it faces, and your shrieking won't be able to change that. So save your breath, shrieker. Myanmar has the backing of China, which is a veto-wielding member of the UN Security Council, and which wants Myanmar's help in building its new economic corridor. So there won't be any sanctions, there won't be any intervention - and you can keep flailing at any passerby all day long - flailing at me, flailing at anyone who comes within shouting distance of you - but your efforts won't do didlysquat.

You can get mad at me for pointing out these obvious things, because getting mad at just any old person you can find to scream at is all you have - but it won't do anything. It won't do the slightest thing to get you whatever outcome you're hoping for. So keep wasting electrons - you obviously have nothing else to do. You might as well be screaming against gravity, or against the expansion of the universe, for all the difference it makes.

I already knew that buddy. But you idolize the thugs in "Myanmar" conducting such attacks, so ultimately it doesn't matter that you are just another Indian bigot who thinks the only good Muslim is a dead one.

The problem is rooting in the fact that the government of "Myanmar" believes the solution to every problem is to try to wipe out a minority. This thuggish behavior has been going on for decades, and it doesn't seem poised to end any time soon.

You shriek "racist, racist, racist" because you can't handle it when people call you out on your support of age old ethnic hatred. Your opinion that the "obvious" outcome is to massacre innocent people is utterly despicable.

Myanmar is going to launch yet another wave of slaughtering its own people, and you are going to cheer because to you the only good Muslim is a dead one. Myanmar faces no violent threat, and indeed has directly created the "threat" it does face through its own atrocities.

Yep, and meanwhile India will continue to posture at countries half its size and quail in the face of those who aren't. Say, how's that campaign to try and keep people from burning widows alive on their husband's funeral pyre going?

It's deflection because you continue to rant and rave about your hate for Muslims, instead of addressing the issue that I originally brought up. Here was my comment.

Anytime refugees are displaced in large numbers, the country accepting the refugees has trouble housing them, and/or maintaining sanitary conditions. But you'll turn a blind eye to all that. Obviously, you haven't read the article attached to the beginning of this thread, and studied the deplorable conditions. Or more likely, you don't care.

Nonsense, the only ranting and raving here is from your side. You're the one making false allegations like my "hate for Muslims" - a person can make criticisms without being hateful - these are your subjective and pejorative assertions.

You seem to foolishly think that your ranting on this board is going to do something when it absolutely will not. As I've said, the problem is rooted in what happened under British colonial rule and the legacy of that period is now being undone. China has a veto at the UN Security Council, and will back Myanmar in what it feel it needs to do. Transnationalism cannot override nationalism, no matter how extreme transnationalism becomes. Physics itself shows us that Locality always prevails over Non-Locality.

Deflection #2 Alert!

Your claims of genocide is nothing but Muslim terrorist propaganda the same as when terrorist supporters claim a genocide against the so called "Palestinians,", same old Muslim terrorist supporting blame the victim propaganda just another country.

Deflection #2 Alert!

I see no deflection coming from me - it's your side which is deflecting. You expect Myanmar to endure endless violence from Bengalis. Sorry, but that's not going to happen. Other than fuming impotently on this forum, what is your means of imposing a solution to your liking? You have none - Myanmar is expelling the Bengalis, and China is backing them. There's nothing you can do about it.

"Deflection #3 Alert!"

Pathetic.
