Awwww ****. Here we go again.

With so many people suffering the after effects of Hurricanes Irma and Harvey, Hurricane Maria is now a category 5 hurricane, and due to hit the Virgin Islands and Porto Rico on Wednesday Morning.

Most, not all models have the hurricane missing the mainstream U.S. I hope that it drifts and misses.

You have to feel for the people of this region. It is likely that this storm is going to hit some of the exact same islands that Irma did.

This is crazy. My class tracked Irma and we talked about all of the islands that got hit. Now it's going to happen all over again. :(

When I first moved to Okinawa right after Mt. Pinatubo erupted in the Philippines, we had 5 typhoons hit us that summer 1 right after the other separated by 7-10 days. Not a good time.

I can't imagine.

People who live in the islands have to be sweating bullets every year during hurricane season. It's been relatively quiet for the past several years but it looks like mother nature is making up for it. We're only in September, too.

I know.. This one appears like it will hit the islands Porto Rico harder than Irma did. Jose looks like it will mainly miss the east coast, but there might be some coastal effects east of NYC.

looks like it is tracking out into the atlantic.
it is going to be interesting to see if it tracks westard
or if it just continues to go out into the ocean.

time for like the 15 year storm surge i guess.

That makes two of us, my house still has half power, many don't even have that! I just took the roofing tin off my windows, felt like a dungeon. I hope I don't have to slap it back up!

Just saw where the President of Domenica had to be rescued. This is just too freakin much.

Just an update.. The entire island of Porto Rico is without power. I worry about the people there.

It's Wednesday evening, and it's hitting Puerto Rico now. The strongest hurricane to hit the island in over 80 years. Devastating. Dominique is destroyed.

From what I read, P.R. is 100% without power, and 95% without communications. The Emergency Management Antenna and the NOAA NWS National Hurricane Center have collapsed. I am scared for those people on the Island.

Would these be the same "experts" who said that Irma was going to be cataclysmic and that "Jose" was going to bring the eastern seaboard to its knees?

Real interesting outlook and comment. Ask the people in Turks and Cacos about Irma. Ask those in Martinique. Jacksonville,FL had record flooding. Other areas had extreme flooding. The Florida Keys got hit pretty hard. Miami didn't get the forecasted brunt of the hurricane, but still sustained a lot of damage.

Maybe you would like to take a vacation to Puerto Rico.

I was too busy to follow it, Wednesday. But when I went to bed late Tuesday, the thing was barreling down at San Juan with 175MPH sustained, 215MPH gusts, and a barometric pressure of 909 mB!

Yow!

After seeing the early post Irma footage of Barbuda, I was literally stunned! And island inhabited since the Stone Age, made uninhabitable overnight! It was stripped of vegetation!

My heart and prayers go out to the people of Puerto Rico.

There is also the little fact of being prepared because of building and zoning laws, as well as mandatory evacutions.
