Former St. Louis officer Jason Stockley found not guilty in murder case

Black Lives Matter and company have shown up in St Louis. Bring your ski mask, hoodie, and crowbar. Tonight is a night for after hours shopping. How much looting, arson, and mayhem will be caused tonight?

"More than 120 people were arrested Sunday as protesters attacked police, broke windows and flipped over trash cans, authorities said. "

"Stockley shot and killed Smith in December 2011. The officer and his partner, Brian Bianchi, tried to stop Smith after witnessing a suspected drug transaction, according to an internal police department report the Post-Dispatch obtained.
Stockley said Smith backed into their police SUV twice in an apparent attempt to harm them. After Bianchi told Stockley that he believed Smith was armed, Stockley exited the SUV with his department-issued handgun. He also had a personal AK-47 pistol, a violation of department policy, according to the report.
Smith sped away, knocking Stockley sideways, and Stockley fired at the vehicle, before Bianchi and Stockley pursued Smith at speeds up to 80 mph. The police vehicle crashed into Smith's Buick in an attempt to avoid hitting a truck, the report said.
Before the crash, Stockley was heard saying he was "going to kill this motherf***er" and told Bianchi to "hit him right now," the report said.

Stockley approached with his weapon drawn. He said in the internal report he ordered Smith to show his hand and believed the suspect was reaching for a handgun, the report said.
"In fear for my safety and that of my partner," Stockley said in the report, "I discharged my department-issued firearm at the subject striking him in the chest."
Stockley then entered Smith's car "to locate the weapon and render it safe," the report said. He removed ammunition from the silver revolver, he said in the report.
Forensic analysis revealed that Stockley's was the only DNA present on the gun he said belonged to Smith, the criminal complaint said.
Prosecutors alleged that Stockley planted the gun, but the judge in the bench trial didn't buy it.
In his ruling Friday, St. Louis Circuit Judge Timothy Wilson said the prosecution's argument was "not supported by the evidence." The gun was too large, Wilson said, for Stockley to hide it from the cameras at the scene. "

Everyone that gets arrested over this should be forced to read the case or have the case read to them.

Between the video and the evidence the judge made the only rational decision possible.

At this point those "protesting" seem less interested in the case and more interested in a five finger midnight discount on some tennis shoes.

No wrong again. I take it that you're not big on reading what's actually written and instead determined to make stuff up.

If that's case, it takes the same person to know another just like them. You didn't read up on the verdict reason, witness testimony, and evidence from what it seems because you want to make an argument over something that has disproven. And it's not even a reasonable argument. "The cop planted the gun in the car." Again, based on the video evidence and witness testimony, never happened. "Well, you can make reasonable arguments about it." About what? You can't even make a reasonable argument over something that never happened because it's not reasonable to begin with. In conclusion, I'm standing by what I said. I really do believe that you're part of an angry mob that wants nothing more to get cops off the street because you don't like them. That's what those nut case rioters believe, and they use the same arguments you do. They were also very quick to condemn the cop without knowing what was going on during the whole ordeal. Whenever someone throws down "the cop planted the evidence" card, it's usually a red flag that they have a probably are not fans of law enforcement. That's the only REASONABLE argument that can be used here.

All the 120 people that got arrested did was hurt their chances for a good job in the future. Now they have an arrest record. Good job!

What is the purpose of the protests in St Louis? What do the protesters want for an outcome? What will satisfy them? Their rallying cry is "No justice, no peace." Do they think that double jeopardy should not apply and Stockley should be tried again? Do they want him fired from the police department? Oh wait, he's no lo longer a police officer. What outcome will satisfy them?

They are protesting on behalf of a convicted felon who while on parole for selling drugs, theft, and carrying a weapon as a convicted felon, was involved in a drug deal, rammed a police car, ran from the police, and had a gun. This isn't exactly the upstanding citizen that we should be championing here. The judge did not believe the prosecution was able to prove the crimes to which the officer was accused. What do the protesters want? And who are the protesting at 2 AM? The only people on the streets at 2 AM, are drunks, prostitutes, police, and paperboys.

We as reasonable people need to be careful that we don't exchange the justice system for old fashioned witch hunts.
Times are different and many laws need reviewing and changing. (Don't even think this happens overnight!)
