Improvised bomb on the Tube in London...

There is a violent Islamic Imperialist expansionism terrorist insurgency that has been ongoing since 1946 and which has been violent since its inception:

May 1946, Muslim leaders from Arakan, Burma (present-day Rakhine State, Myanmar) met with Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the founder of Pakistan, and asked for the formal annexation of two townships in the Mayu region, Buthidaung and Maungdaw, by East Pakistan (present-day Bangladesh). Two months later, the North Arakan Muslim League was founded in Akyab (present-day Sittwe, capital of Rakhine State), which also asked Jinnah to annex the region.[45] Jinnah refused, saying he could not interfere with Burma's internal matters. After Jinnah's refusal, proposals were made by Muslims in Arakan to the newly formed post-independence government of Burma, asking for the concession of the two townships to Pakistan. The proposals were rejected by the Burmese parliament.[46]

Local mujahideen were subsequently formed against the Burmese government,[47] and began targeting government soldiers stationed in the area. Led by Mir Kassem, the newly formed mujahideen movement began gaining territory, driving out local Rakhine communities from their villages, some of whom fled to East Pakistan.[48]

Your Wikipedia link doesn't change the facts, first and foremost being that the movement was created as a direct result of the brutality of the "Myanmar" government.

Yes there is and its been ongoing since 1946.

You do realized that Pakistan rejected annexing the area, right? For an "imperialist conspiracy" it certainly doesn't seem very motivated. But hey, any excuse to kill Muslims, right?

Fearandloathing:

I hear you man. But being a bit snobbish I will add that Russian elites of the 17th and 18th centuries were Europhiles and fancied all things European with gusto. At times France was in vogue, or Germany was "gut" or England the cup of tea. Even wee Scotland was all the rage for a brief time, especially in St. Petersburg where the Scottish influenced Royal Academy of Sciences was located. About the only Europeans who were not popular were the Poles, Lithuanians and the Swedes who kept invading Russia at this time! Jumping ahead to the 19th Century America and Britain were the darlings of Russian foreign admiration. Many forget that Leon Trotsky spent many happy years in New York City and relished American culture, if not its capitalism. The last of the Romanov's were Grecophiles and Anglophiles, until the bullets flew in Yekaterinburg!

But you're right about the bearded Boyars, they were hirsute thugs and boorish brigands. The rest of the Russian population could not have cared less for the most part.

Cheers.

PS: I've forgotten the first name of the Scottish director of the St. Petersburg Royal Academy of Sciences so I've got to go and look it up before I go around the twist. His surname was Bruce. Talk about being an obsessive nerd! I need help!

Yeah, that's going a bit deep for around here. I am impressed though. The best I can recall from my readings was that the Tsars had allowed a mercantile class to arise, and the Tsar then needed the cossaks for support.

And you didn't mention the Tsar's famous "incognito" trip to Europe....furthering the idea that all things wonderful came from there.

I'm old though and I get details and names mixed up anymore

Your Wikipedia link doesn't change the facts,

I realize that, and the fact is there is an ongoing Islamic Imperialist expansionist terrorist insurgency which has been slaughtering the Buddhist minority in the region for 60+ years and now when the government fights back you want to blame the victim for defending themselves, spare me your Muslim apologetics, I've heard them all before, and they don't get any less laughable or disgusting with repetition.

You do realized that Pakistan rejected annexing the area, right?

Hence the on going 60+ year terrorist insurgency, Pakistan was too busy consolidating their annexation of half of the Indian subcontinent and ethnically cleansing it of Hindus and Buddhists.

Fearandloathing:

I sort of geeked-out. I'll try to restrain myself in the future. It won't work, but I'll try!

And props for reminding me of the Great Embassy. You might enjoy this article. I googled "beard" and "Peter the Great" and this came up!
