North Korea launched an unidentified missile on Thursday, according to multiple reports.

The missile was launched from the communist dictatorship's capital of Pyongyang headed east, NBC News and Reuters reported, citing the South Korean military. The projectile passed over Japan, Japan's NHK reported.

The South Korean and American militaries are analyzing the launch, the reports said.

CNBC could not immediately independently confirm those reports.

I'm hearing it on the nightly news right now too. This after threatening to turn the US to ashes. This is scaring me. Is he really just "threatening"?? I thought so, but I don't know now.

We lived through the cold war. The Soviet Union had the capability to destroy the whole West.

North Korea does not have such power.

They do have enough to make invading them out of the question for the same reason nobody stamps on hornets with bear feet.

I live in Korea, my line of work directly deals with North Korea and let me assure you: The United States is going to be fine.

What about Japan?

My guess is that Kim doesn't have the capability to reach the CONUS. If he wants to attack it's probably going to be a high altitude detonation designed to take out satellites via EMP. I question, however, how much he really wants to attack. He knows that if he steps too far he will be annihilated and nobody will come to his aid. I also would be willing to bet that if some of his generals get it into their heads that Kim is becoming suicidal he'll have a heart attack or die in a spectacular accident while attempting to rescue the injured.

I guess I'll wait to see the reaction to this latest launch. How long will Japan put up with missiles being launched over them? They had their warnings go off and told their citizens to take cover according to the report I read. I haven't seen any new ones come in yet.

The other networks are starting to report to.

North Korea 'fires missile from Pyongyang' - BBC News

South Korea's presidential palace, the Blue House, has called an urgent National Security Council meeting.

since a hot war with NK seems to be a top priority for hawks, i suppose that it would be a good idea to agree to back burner the discussion of tax cuts and start preparing for the war effort. history has shown us that these wars are seldom quickly won.

No. No, no.

You cut taxes and THEN start the war.

Then use the deficit this causes to justify eviscerating social programs.

And if anybody questions your actions, say they hate the troops.

Since Trump's "fire and fury" warning, North Korea has fired two missiles over Japan and tested a nuclear weapon.

The Soviet Union for all its flaws was far more stable than North Korea. They also had more to lose than NK does.

North Korea has no chance against us. If they try something against the US they will be annihilated.

China needs to have a word with it's psychotic neighbor before he does something really stupid.

Since Trump's "fire and fury" warning, North Korea has fired two missiles over Japan and tested a nuclear weapon.

So what do you want Trump to do? Start WWIII?

He can't slap that lunatic without provoking China (unless Kimmy Boy slaps first, then China won't care too much about what's done to him). He (Trump) has done everything he can for the time being in regards to Commie Kimmy.

How to make Republicans accept anything they ever criticized Clinton or Obama for doing, Chapter 1: Watch Trump do the same exact thing.

Actually, that's the only chapter in the book. It's also the only sentence.

since a hot war with NK seems to be a top priority for hawks.....

[KJU goes nuclear, tests hydrogen bomb, launches missiles that range US territory, threatens to use his nukes and his missiles to turn his enemies into ash]

"Clearly the people causing the conflict here are the Americans I disagree with politically....."

you edited out the inconvenient part. are you willing to shelve tax cuts to prepare for war with NK? if not, we have nothing to discuss.

China no longer has the ability to restrain ole KJU. He's gone rogue, including from them.

So what do you want Trump to do? Start WWIII?

We've already been through that, and are currently in WWIV. A Korean campaign would be pretty much regional, except for the cyber / space impacts.

Unfortunately (or, fortunately, really, if you are looking at it from a capabilities standpoint) this is incorrect.

"Unless you support my position on this unrelated policy, my point that it is my political opponents, vice KJU, who are responsible for this conflict stands."

Winning Logic there.

Look, in any war, you need more soldiers, and to get more soldiers, you need more people. Unless you therefore adopt my pro-life position, therefore, you have no standing to claim that it's not US-based non-interventionist's fault that Kim Jung Un is a nutty madman.
