Attorney General Jeff Sessions says DACA immigration policy is being rescinded.

Sessions: DACA is 'unconstitutional'

This is going to get ugly.

President Trump today: Live updates - CNNPolitics

Are you sure? It seems the president has gotten away with just about everything except murder why would anything stop him now? I mean all the republicans in congress cares about is "how will this effect me?" Me comes first along with party. **** the country.

Personally I'm suffering from outrage fatigue. I almost don't' give a **** anymore.

How can the president amend "Immigration policy"? How can the AG amend "Immigration policy"

Answer to both is, they cant. The president CAN however implement EOs on how Immigration law is enforced.

Good. I have nothing against the DACA people, but it is something that needs to be handled through legislation, not an EO. Obama had a bad habit of using EOs to circumvent the legislative process, and any EOs meant to circumvent the will of Congress should be ended. I don't hold any hope that Trump will avoid such temptation now that the genie is out of the bottle, but I don't like the Executive office using such power even if it is something I wanted.

I do find it hilarious reading Vincente Fox's defense of DACA on Twitter on the grounds that Trump is "killing the American Dream".... maybe he should be more interested in building the Mexican Dream? And the American Dream isn't supposed to start by breaking the law... unless you are a Kennedy, I guess.

It's priorities and methods of policy enforcement, executive realm.

Please quote where that is in the Constitution. Article II, Section 3 says different, BTW.

Is the executive branch not responsible for enforcement? Does that not include details of priority and method?

Which has nothing to do with the nations immigrations laws and policies.

Oh, please. Do you think Obama didn't have any attorneys and he spent his life in real estate? I'm pretty sure there's an argument for the EO being Constitutional. It may turn out not to be, like some of Trump's, but I lean toward executive power in any case.

The details of priorities and methods for the enforcement of policy is the realm of the executive branch.

DACA was never meant to be a permanent fix. Even Obama said that.

I hope not. But a lot of people could be adversely impacted. I suspect they won't go quietly into the night

Then they can go kicking and screaming.

Of cours3 there's an argument, but it's wrong.

Immigrants must have arrived literally as a child and they must do better than most of us (staying out of trouble) for 6 years plus 2 years of college or military service and be deemed of good moral character. It's the ultimate vetting system for the youngest undocumented immigrants.

Do we want the best, brightest and most assimilated immigrants possible? DACA accomplishes that. Also, young people are more likely to pay into the system as opposed to draw benefits and these immigrants are college grads or military members.

DACA has failed to do any of that.

DACA has failed to do any of that.

So it was changed, now there are no entry requirements and no 6 year conditional status requirements and everyone is being given citizenship?

Yes, and it depends on the law. If the law gives leeway to the executive, then they can take that leeway. If the law does not, then they cannot. Immigration law does not give the executive any leeway, such as sentencing guidelines that allow for a variation in prosecution or sentencing, etc. Again, Article II, Section 3.
