Why is Putin backing North Korea?

Russia and China have been keeping the lid on paranoid NK for sixty years, when along comes Trump to fan the flames in ignorance.

The real title of this thread should be WHY IS UKRAINE BACKING NORTH KOREA?

Because one question we really should be asking is WHY DID UKRAINE GIVE NORTH KOREA THE TECHNOLOGY TO BUILD ITS ICBM ROCKET ENGINE?

Did Ukraine Provide Rocket Engines to North Korea For Its Nuclear Missile Program?

The title of this thread is just fine. From your own article...

The RD-250 rocket engine was produced at the Ukrainian Yuzhmash factory until 2001, Yuriy Radchenko, head of the State Space Agency of Ukraine, told journalists in Kiev. At the Ukrainian facility, the double chamber, liquid-propellant RD-250 engines were mated with the Soviet R-36 ICBM during the Cold War. The engines were also used for the Cyclone 2 and 3 rockets, which Russia used to launch satellites into space until 2006 and 2009, respectively.

After the Soviet Union’s breakup in 1991, the Ukrainian Yuzhmash factory continued to produce RD-250 engines, but solely for use in space rockets supplied to Russia. Both the RD-250 engines and the Cyclone rockets “were made at Yuzhmash in the interests of Russia,” Radchenko said. In total, 233 Cyclone rockets were produced in Ukraine and sent to Russia. Russia cut its orders of the Cyclone rocket in 2006, and the Yuzhmash factory has not found another buyer. Only Russia currently possesses the rockets, all of which are mated with Ukrainian-made RD-250 engines. Russia has between seven and 20 of the Cyclone rockets stored in unknown locations, Radchenko claimed. If North Korea did in fact receive modified RD-250 engines from an outside source, Ukraine’s space chief claimed it was from Russia, not Ukraine. “They [Russia] can supply these engines from the finished rockets to whomever they want,” Radchenko said.

Ukraine stopped making the RD-250 rocket engine in 2001. All Cyclone rockets/RD-250 engines were sent to Russia in 2006. Since 2008 the Ukrainian Yuzhmash factory has made trolleybuses. The company filed for bankruptcy in 2015.

Again from your own article...

On August 14, the U.S. intelligence community denied Elleman’s finding that North Korea could not have produced on its own the liquid-propellant rocket engines used in recent ICBM tests. “We have intelligence to suggest that North Korea is not reliant on imports of engines,” one U.S. intelligence official told Reuters. “Instead, we judge they have the ability to produce the engines themselves.”

It's the TECHNOLOGY which North Korea received, and not physical rocket engines - that's what Ukraine gave away, not only to North Korea but to other countries as well. You can buy anything from Ukraine if you have the money.

don't you think that its about time for liberation of NK folk?

I am not a neo con. I didn't support the Iraq War. I don't believe in starting wars for somebody else's freedom.

"Why is Putin backing North Korea?"

Because North Korea is an enemy of the U.S. whose power he envies.

With Russia and China as next door neighbor buddies, the Norks have all they need in the way of technology transfer.

Why? Because neither Russia or China want a US ally on their borders on the Korean Peninsula. NK has been the buffer zone to keep the west at bay. That's why the Chinese army became involved in the Korean War to start with. That China and Russia have mismanaged their buffer isn't our fault. They should be the ones to step up to the plate and pacify North Korea - it's a child of their own making. They can claim limited influence all they want, but they are the ones supplying the North.

2 Muscovite solders were killed today in Syria, its pull off from Syria was a FAKE...

1. Why are you referring to them as Muscovites?

2. That occurring has literally nothing to do with their diplomatic gamesmanship.

cos Mongols of Juchi have had nothing to do with Kiev Rus´, Rossia is 19c myth , construction of romantic nationalist from Europe who worked in Muscovy at that time

"The bloody mire of Mongolian slavery, not the rude glory of the Norman epoch, forms the cradle of Muscovy, and modern "Russia" is but a metamorphosis of Muscovy."

Kiev Rus has nothing to do with "Russia", Yale University’s Timothy Snyder is the world’s leading historian of Eastern Europe
