The Latest: GOP eyeing $1B disaster funds cut to help wall

The key house member in September is GOP Rep. Hensarling, the guy who torpedoed the Supercommittee in late 2011, is ready to trash insurance for his own Texans with NFIP, has prevented any meaningful transportation and infrastructure since his Tea party took over, and of course voted against Sandy with both Texas Senators and 23 of 24 Texas house members ...

No argument from me on that one my friend.

Right, because an ill nation does wonders for the public good.

As it is with nutritious food, good clothing, clean safe housing, transportation, child care... where does personal responsibility end, and government responsibility begin, or the way it should be asked, where does personal responsibility come into the picture?

I don't expect an answer because I don't want to be part of derailing this thread.

It ends at the same line where "big business" becomes responsible about what they push for the public to eat. Point remains that we as the most in everything nation have to do better in caring about our fellow citizens. In the long run it is cheaper and the benefits do not end at that.

That's a childish argument, be responsible for your own choices for God's sake.

Someone's getting played like a fiddle. :violin

This is a non story. No one is cutting aid for a wall no one wants.

Enough with the meshugas...

There truly is no limit to Republican idiocy.

Leaving out one word in particular would have made this post sound less hackish... but the partisan hatred couldn't resist.

A shame really... welcome to DP.

That's exactly what McCain did with that Obamacare repeal.
That's my thinking, too.

Despite his self-propagated reputation as a maverick, McCain has always been the quintessential party man. That's why he got the nod in '08. And here, given his health reality, he may have been considered the most expendable. Only a small handful of GOP senators wanted the repeal to go through. Most, including the establishment, cringed at the thought of it passing and the possibility the House could pick it up and pass it outright!

Yeah, because people choose to get hit by hurricanes, or to get cancer etc etc etc.

I don't believe in karma or anything but what comes around goes around. Helping others is not a zero sum game, we all benefit from a stronger, healthier country.

It's a waste of money to fund global warming research.

How so? You mean just stop funding, say, NOAA to the extent that they research global warming, or all research programs, universities, corporations, that have to do with GW?
Do you think we've learned all we need to know about this topic? Or, maybe, you mean scientific research generally.

In the real world.... Abbott says Texas will accept Mexican offer of Hurricane Harvey relief

In the Trumpian world.... Republicans Considering Making Hurricane Victims Pay for Trump’s Wall

You guys can spare some change, right?

The answer to your question is that we use a democratic process to determine the answers to those questions.

Global warming is a hoax. If the warmers think it's that important, they can all pitch in and fund it themselves.

Especially since your Louisiana continues to lose a football field of area every 48 minutes; Louusiana Sinking ;;

Sinking...right...lol

Who told you that, Exxon? Mobil?

No, it is a pragmatic argument. While I certainly am responsible for my choices just as it should be, there are countless people who can not be and unlike you, I am not willing to cast them away.

Uhmmmm. This is what I was responding to:
