Houston Hit by ‘Catastrophic Flooding’ ...[W:274]

Re: Houston Hit by ‘Catastrophic Flooding’ ...[W:274]

Gotta hand it to Trump. Relief is going as smoothly as it can here in Houston. FEMA aid is here, and people are being helped. Someone I know who lost his home got put up in an apartment, and is getting money for food, all courtesy of FEMA.

Unlike Katrina, there was no "good job Brownie" statement by Trump. He did what he needed to do, and that is all we ask of whoever is in power. Don't get me wrong, I still think Trump is a colossal asshole, but I'll give credit where credit is due.

DISCLAIMER: Trump is an asshole statement inserted so as not to ruin my reputation by becoming known as a Trump supporter.

Re: Houston Hit by ‘Catastrophic Flooding’ ...

There will be lots of counting for years...perhaps the rest of the country should support the secessionist movement in Texas since their spechul and don't need the rest of us Americans...they could save money on the rebuild by importing construction workers from Mexico...no need to hurry on account of a wall getting in their way anytime soon...check with Trump on hiring non US workers...he's got it down to a science.

Meanwhile food is rotting in the fields in California because non US workers are afraid to go to work for fear of being deported.

Guess it's time to pay US citizens to do those jobs  if something can't be farmed without resorting de facto slavery (and yes that's what those migrant camps usually are) then maybe we need to re think how we grow it.

As a resident of the Houston area I am extremely proud of the citizens and how everyone pulled together to help their neighbors during this tragedy. Hundreds of thousands of people displaced yet unlike New Orleans the people of Houston pulled together to help each other and although this is going to be a long healing process it will always be Houston Proud

Me too Conn ! We live just South of Friendswood and have family and friends that live just behind Clear Creek. What a disaster. Hope you and your family are safe

Hell, Im a proud Texas Conservative and I think Sylvester Turner did a hell of a job ! This storm turned out to be the great unifier and I think Texas and Texans did a hell of a job showing the rest of the world what Americans are capable of

He actually sided with the Dems today to keep the government open and funds flowing. I guess Ryan and McConnell threw hissies at firt, but then quickly sucked it up and put the best spin on it they could.

Republican leaders in the room 'shell-shocked' following Trump deal with Democrats

I'd say scoring a point or two for Trump is certainly in order here.

You are then going to have to pay lots of money to bus Americans to those sites and back home every day, and the price of food will still shoot through the roof.

Re: Houston Hit by ‘Catastrophic Flooding’ ...

Seems to me it is a bit premature to draw any conclusions...working through the alphabet fairly quickly with I, J and K on the heels of H...just sayin'...just another normal weather year someone said a while back...perhaps it was a referral to just like the four or five worst years in our history...yup, no biggie.

We can then look to cut cost a bit by just importing more food from Mexico...with a larger work force available they can cut their labor costs, treating the migrants in the way they've grown accustomed to, and maintain supply level so increased demand allows them to charge more and still be competitive...or they could use the extra labor force migrating into Mexico expand and kick ass in the worldly scheme of things...won't be long and they'll be happy to pay for a wall to keep American's out.

Fascinating...Trump finally scores a win with the help of the Dems which should fair well for Dems in 2018...if they take control...
I find it a bit ironic, he finally scores a point or two which could ultimately get him closer to impeachment.

Or take him further away from it if he can form a coalition of both moderate R and Centrist D who see it in their best interests to keep him around because---well, he's not Pence. :)

Hard to factor impeachment in right now. What we have is a split R and a united D. If Trump wants legislative wins, he needs to pull a good number of R's over to the D. Should be interesting to see if this is a trend or anomaly.

Another possibility, for sure...we could also end up with both Trump and Pence on the chopping block, in terms of impeachment.

A Trump trend is an anomaly, lol, whatever the case...we can count on few dull moments...and lack of certainty.
