Source: Kasich, Hickenlooper consider unity presidential ticket in 2020

Kasich is going to pick a far Left loon? This is a joke. What party nomination is he running for? It can't be the Republicans.

I'm not a fan of Kasich's policies but I do like his even tone by comparison to what is going on now. And with all the incredible devisiveness going on currently... I could see this actually happening. Except for the fact that they are considering running as independent. Not having the in-place infrastructure behind you makes everything an extreme uphill. Like just getting on the ballot in each and every state for example. The two parties tend to sue the crap out of third parties and independents during this process so that your campaign is too bankrupt to run after having fought to just be on the ballot.

Ohio Gov. John Kasich and Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper have entertained the idea of forming a unity presidential ticket to run for the White House in 2020, a source involved the discussions tells CNN.

Under this scenario, Kasich, a Republican, and Hickenlooper, a Democrat, would run as independents with Kasich at the top of the ticket, said the source, who cautioned it has only been casually talked about.

Which Kasich would we be watching this iteration?

Another new one I spect.

The political divide has become genuinely destabilizing to the point that obvious, big-picture American interests are being sidelined in favor of partisan infighting. I have no idea how practical this is, but I appreciate the intent.

Re: Kasich eyes Independent run w/Hickenlooper

My personal feelings are that a three ring circus (for lack of better terminology) of Trump&Pence, Warren& someone, and Kasich&Higgenlooper would be a brilliant move. I believe they would have support of many in both parties and independents to boot. Kasich wouldn't have to worry about being the cause of Warren being elected president and Higgenlooper wouldn't have to worry about being the cause of Trump&Pence being re-elected. They also wouldn't have to worry about having to have a formal party apparatus and war chest in order to win, nor would they have to go through primaries to run. Many Americans are sick and tired of the gridlock of both parties and both parties saying that it was either their way or the highway. With a split ticket with one Republican and one Democrat, voters would have the hope that partisanship would be minimized. I'd impeach Trump tomorrow if this could be pulled off tomorrow. However, now I have something to look forward to for 2020.

Are you saying Warren should choose a Republican VP? I'm not sure any Republican is willing to go that far considering how much she is despised by the base.

It's wishful thinking on CNN's part....Seriously I don't know why they are even allowed on anything to do with actual 'Breaking News' anymore....Hell, they can't even come up with a named source on a piece like this....They are useless.

Hilarious... because it's true.

This is why I accused you of being easily duped by headlines. You don't even read the small bit I cut and pasted. Hell, you didn't even read that small bit I wrote about it addressing this.

Ohio Gov. John Kasich and Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper.... not a chance in hell.
Casually talked about or not this has a zero chance of success.

Oh, and you play it down the middle I suppose....Now that's hilarious.....:lamo

Source-wise... I sure try to. Just to avoid being sidetracked by "BIAASSSSSEEDDD!!!1!!!!1111!!"

Still hard though seeing how trumpettes think anything not kissing trumps ass is fake news.

I don't think it'll happen, but with the current options being floated around they would get my vote.

Floating the idea of Hickenlooper as his running mate shows Kasich is not very serious about this run.

You can attach names if you want, it's childish, but I am sick and tired of telling the same idiots over and over that my preference was Cruz in the election....Why don't you settle down and try and address things like an adult, instead of some 4th grader....

Re: Kasich eyes Independent run w/Hickenlooper

He'll be out by the end of the year. Pence will be tough to beat, but Kasich can easily attack him for sticking by Donald and for some of the things he's said that's gone under the radar.

Pence will be tough to beat? Who are you kidding. Pence is an idiot. He would never have gotten elected on a national ticket it he had to run on his own.

So Trump may have just destroyed the two party system.

Little bit of US history. Many may not be familiar with this
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_presidential_election,_1796
Candidates
Before the ratification of the 12th Amendment in 1804, each elector was to vote for two persons, but was not able to indicate which vote was for president and which was for vice president. Instead, the recipient of the most electoral votes would become president and the runner-up vice president. As a result, both parties ran multiple candidates for president, in hopes of keeping one of their opponents from being the runner-up. These candidates were the equivalent of modern-day running mates, but under the law they were all candidates for president. Thus, both Adams and Jefferson were technically opposed by several members of their own parties. The plan was for one of the electors to cast a vote for the main party nominee (Adams or Jefferson) and a candidate besides the primary running mate, thus ensuring that the main nominee would have one more vote than his running mate.

Pence the carrier of Trump baggage, no I disagree.
He is tied to trumps policy at the hip.
Apologist and excuse maker in Chief.

Re: Kasich eyes Independent run w/Hickenlooper

Unless Kasich has changed his views on medical cannabis, he would not get my vote. I like the idea of a unity ticket, but this is a deal breaker, as it was primary season.
