A federal judge in Corpus Christi has thrown out Texas' controversial voter identification law, after finding it was intentionally discriminatory for a second time.

In a court order Wednesday, U.S. District Judge Nelva Gonzales Ramos ruled that Texas' 2011 voter ID law, which was considered to be one of the strictest in the nation, was unconstitutionally discriminatory. The law, Ramos wrote, violated Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act, which prohibits discrimination, and the 14th and 15th amendments.

The Texas voter ID law has just been thrown out, root and branch.

If it was found to be discimrintiory good!

now im not familiar with THIS particular law so I cant say if it was or wasnt but the vast majority i have read and seen are complete crape and many have nothing to do with "voter ID". I completely support voter ID, IN pa whether its the law or not i have always had to present my ID, but thats what it has to be about ID. not redistricting, closing down polling places, limiting early voting and times and days etc etc.

In before the infinity number of "Why do Democrats think black people are too stupid and lazy to get an id?" posts which will drive this thread into thirty pages.

Like the founders, some of our fellow citizens do not believe everyone should have the right, really now, to vote. And corporate power, seeing as how they're now "people too", need you not to.

In before we hear that the judges name is why he said it was discriminatory.

As I have said before, if a voter ID requirement can be proven not to discriminate or create a poll tax, I might be OK with it.

Fail either of these baselines and I am 100% against it.

Despite the fact that "the right of citizens of the United States to vote" is explicitly stated in the amendments more than any other right.

Hmm... would the be the same valid, state issued, photo ID that is required to buy beer, tobacco or a gun? How is a strict ID law only a "discriminatory burden" sometimes?

But, but, but Obama and the Clinton political machine and the 3 million undocumented voters...

Such a ruling is an absurdity predicated on blacks and latinos somehow being too stupid to get an ID card... always amusing when liberals take up such blatantly bigoted positions and don't get called out on it.

Pure and simple, they want the illegal vote, I must produce ID to buy beer at Family dollar, every time.

It's not discriminatory to argue that minorities are incapable of obtaining state identification? I'd say that believing minorities are too irresponsible to apply for identification is a much more racist view than the belief in voter ID.

The only thing absurd is the lie you just posted and thought honest, educated and objective people would be fooled in thinking its a fact. We don't. Disagree? Then please simply post FACTS that make your claim true. thanks!

Am I good or am I good?

Yet that's essentially what you believe. It was a clever move to attempt to strike this from the debate, but it doesn't change the fact that people who fear Voter ID laws are arguing that minorities are so inept as to lack basic human abilities.

FYI
you must of mistakenly quoted the wrong person since your post has nothing to do with mine in anyway shape of form.
You're welcome.

Sorry. Now you know the framework of the DNC's argument against Voter ID Laws.

I do? Sorry like other honest, objective and topically educated people i dont accept things without facts that make them true. Please provide the facts that make the DNC's argument what you claim it is to be true. Thanks!
FYI many people on the right are also full against voter ID laws when they are not about ID

There are 43 million immigrants living in the US. Why can't you just be honest and admit that you want them to be allowed to vote?

Ummm perhaps a Junior High Civics Teacher could explain that to you.

Constitutional law and all that sort of thing. Might be a bit tedious if you don't understand the difference at this point...

Oh here's an idea, take it to court and see what the Judges think of your question, THEY can tell you (though they may use big words)... :peace

It's simple J. The DNC believes that you are incapable of going to the DMV, and you're probably too poor to be able to afford identification, so you shouldn't have to show ID at voting polls.

43 million??? Breitbart??? InfoWars??? Why can't you just be honest and admit you want to believe they vote... even though for years the rabid right can't seem to produce any real evidence 'millions' have voted... :peace
