An Ohio judge was shot Monday morning outside his courthouse in an ambush attack that ended when the judge and a probation officer returned fire, killing the attacker, authorities said.

Police said a man apparently waiting for Judge Joseph J. Bruzzese Jr., who sits on the Jefferson County Court of Common Pleas, ran up to the judge and began shooting when he approached the courthouse. Bruzzese drew a gun and fired at least five rounds at the shooter, possibly hitting the attacker, Jefferson County Sheriff Fred J. Abdalla told reporters during emotional remarks Monday morning.
Both are lucky to be alive, with a tad of planning by the shooter, both would/could have been seriously injured or dead.

Lucky they are ...

That reminds me, reserve my spot at the range for Tuesday and Thursday.

Practice is essential ... otherwise idiots like this get to tell their story.

bad choice of use of a firearm by the 'attacker' ............... good thing he is dead .................

two cheers for the judge .........

I'm glad the judge is alive, but I do like the

"Bruzzese drew a gun and fired at least five rounds at the shooter, possibly hitting the attacker, "

I mean...possibly? If he missed, where did those bullet go?

But in seriousness, good that the judge and officer made it out alive. The attacker must have had some vendetta, like the judge had sentenced him previous or something of the like.

Authorities identified the gunman as Nathaniel "Nate" Richmond, the father of Ma'Lik Richmond. Ma'Lik served about 10 months in a juvenile lockup after being convicted with another Steubenville High School football player of raping a 16-year-old girl during an alcohol-fueled party in 2012.

Man who shot judge is father of player convicted of rape

10 months for rape is kind of lightweight, but that's how things are today.

Interesting.

I mean, first off I think the dad should be happy his kid only served 10 months for rape. Secondly, it seems from the article that the judge he tried to kill wasn't associated with that case. Quite perplexing.

Unless there's more than media reports are sharing, it might be mistaken identity. Who knows. Definitely a good day for the judge, without being armed himself, there's probably no way he'd have survived the ambush.

Gotta wonder is a certain tortoise knows this judge. And I'm betting that tortoise is touching himself over this news.

and 10 years for weed; yup, it's ****ed up ..................

Who gets 10 years for weed? In most places it's a fine or a misdemeanor for simple possession.

well, it has happened but it depends on the amount (weight) of the contraband; distribution charges would surly be attached & up the potential sentence ...........

I was one perp shy of a RICO Act prosecution in the early 1980s; guy got 15 years on a Federal sentence, served 7 years, got out but he was butt ass broke ................... millions gone ....................
