I didn't see any counter-protesters carrying Beretta's and AR-15s. Nor did they kill anyone using a car as a weapon

You were the one who said to judge things on their merit

In comparing the history of the KKK/white supremacist/neo nazi movements with the history of antifa, the klan/white supremacists/ neo-Nazis are the greater problem because not only are they violent, but they practice and promote bigotry.

Antifa are communists, anarcho communists, to be specific.
Communist groups and nations have been as violent and destructive as racial supremacists.

Fairly easy to see that both are abhorrent.

Not really.
We have things like the various "red terrors" where communist groups slaughtered people.
I don't think the dick measuring is worth anything.

At the end of the day, they're both going to violate basic human rights and ethics.

So did George Orwell join a morally repugnant ideology when he went to voluntarily fight againist the Spanish fascists in the Spanish civil war?

So do a lot of groups and organizations. Their history only matters in so far as that it is part of the group.

Let's put it this way...if someone is kicking the **** out of you for using free speech...do you really care whether or not they have 100 years of anti freedom history? Or only 20 or so? Probably not. You just want them to stop. Anti fa is filled with anti freedom nuts. Associating with them is the equivalent of neo Nazis. They aren't heroes. They need to be condemned. The REAL heroes are the ones who stand up to this bull**** without getting violent.

Coincidentally enough, the Boston Antifa chapter happens to be a parody account run by a bunch of twitter trolls. Looks like the marketplace of ideas trumps violent confrontation.

With that said, I think he learned that communism has an incredibly ugly side.
Which is likely why he wrote 1984.

The Spanish civil war was between two groups of abysmal ideologies.

I've only ever been on this board.

Killing a bunch of people because racism, political reprisal, dissent, etc.

You know when I go to a Baseball Field there's a high degree of confidence a Baseball game is bound to show up ... and you can plan accordingly.

Antifa are anarcho communists.
That's the ideology they represent.

Communism, like racial fascism, is a destructive and oppressive ideology.
They're both responsible for the death of 10s of millions of people.
I guess though, it was less bad because the communists killed people for "not racist" reasons.
As if that should matter.
