President Trump’s approval rating is at its lowest since he took office with only 35% of Americans giving him a positive rating, according to a Marist Poll released Wednesday.

Although he is still popular among Republicans, his key constituency, his job performance rating has dropped among strong Republicans from 91% in June to 79%*now.*

A majority, 62%, of the 1,009 U.S. residents polled in English via mobile phone and landline think Trump’s decisions overall have weakened the role of the United States on the world stage. But his perceived impact on the economy is almost split, with 44% of Americans believing the U.S. economy has been strengthened because of the president's decisions and a 46% feeling it has been weakened, within the polls overall margin of error of plus or minus 3.1 percentage points.

For most of you, this basically confirms what you already know. For the rest, I'd love to try and see the Trump bots try and spin spin this clear cut rejection of Trump on multiple fronts.

I'm surprised his approval rating is that high.

His polls are not lower. They're higher than they were before the Charlottesville controversy. Among registered or likely voters, his job approval average is 39.3%, which is just about where he's been since mid-May.

Polls will not save the Democratic Party. Registering voters and helping Democratic nominees will. While everybody is focused like a laser beam on whether Republicans are finally getting ready to turn on Trump, the Democratic party is busy racing toward irrelevance and a repeat of 2016.

The idea that 35% of people still view him favorably bothers me.

35 percent? That's 10 percent more than voted for him.

The forget why he won. Their fundraising is in disarray- the new Chairman of the DNC, has 3 people fundraising.
Then they have those that want to swing way left.
They best get their collective **** in order, or they could be in for a nasty surprise in 18.

Would a party heading toward irrelevance have 209 candidates who have already filed paperwork with intent to run for a seat in congress?

I'm aware of that, and that's great. But the media narrative has been locked on several themes:

1)Are Republican congressmen finally going to part ways with Trump?
2)Will they censure Trump?
3)When will they agree to impeach him? (Answer: they won't. Stop asking).
4)What are they tweeting about him? Oh? They're deeply troubled? That's great!
5)Are die-hard Trump supporters still supporting Trump? (Answer: yes. That's why they're called "Die-hard Trump supporters.").
6)How do die-hard Trump supporters feel about Trump's latest controversy? (Answer: they're totally fine with it. They're die-hard Trump supporters).

The media narrative is most certainly not "Democrats taking the lead in criticizing Trump!" or "Democrats have some amazing policies to look forward to!" or "Democrats: Boy! They sure are a beacon of where we need to be!"

Frankly, Republicans are punk rock stars right now.

And to think, if you liberals didn't suck even worse, you might actually win an election.

Here's a thought,...come up with a platform that actually helps the middle class instead of concentrating on amnesty for illegals and letting a hairy 40 year old man into the women's bathroom and you might get somewhere.

I thought it dipped to 33% by a previous biased poll, so was that poll lying or is the media so retarded that everything is the lowest even if the math fails kindergarten level?

So far his average is 37% bordering 38%, this is cherrypicking the lowest poll and ignoring all other polls that say different, and heck if you look at the polls ,on 538, yougov had botha lower and higher number. In a 3 day yougov poll trump was at 39%, wide variance for the same pollster conducted at the same time with a one day difference.

educating yourself and doing research might better you than taking a random news link from people who failed basic math.

in June to 79%*now

79% of Republicans still approve of this guy, even though he's been an global embarrassment, insulted our Allies, has taken us to the brink of war, and excused Nazis who killed an innocent woman.

That pretty much says it all. Republicans will believe whatever they are told on Fox TV and AM Radio. They can't think for themselves. Trump TV will be a HUGE hit, guaranteed.

Oh FFS, Obama's approval rating was consistently close to 50 percent, and then over that when he left office.

But for some reason the Democratic party couldnt quite capitalize on Obama's high approval ratings
Nope...Lol !

They suffered staggering losses over the last 7 years at the local, State and Federal level losing 14 Governors, the House majority and the Senate majority along the way.

Even Hillary couldnt capitalize on Obama's 56 percent approval rating, Donald Trump of all people beat her in the General election

Only 6 States currently have a Democratically controlled House and Governor afte 8 years of Obama and its going to get much worse

Trumps approval ratings is supposed to be low because why ? He didnt respond the exact way the Media and the Democrats and their supporters wanted him to after Charlotte ?

Because of some manufactured Russian tin hat conspiracy theory thats going to blow up in the lefts faces ?

Give me a break.

Approval ratings are obviously bogus and politicized and no, a pretend approval rating isnt going to help the Democrats win elections

When election time rolls around the Dems will have nothing to run on, no policy successes or policy messaging even.
They will stick to divisive and toxic idnentity politics and insulting demagoguery and Trump hate and theyre not going to change anyones minds with that kind of message

Interesting defense: We Suck Less

I doubt many americans care about trannies using the bathroom.

I doubt many americans care about trannies using the bathroom.

Actually they do. When Annise Parker , Mayor of Houston tried to force her bathroom bill through the Citizens of Houston reminded her that she lacked the authority to implement her bathroom bill via fiat and demanded that it be put to a vote.

It was voted down in a City that historically elects Democrat mayors and council men and women

Why ? Because LGBT bathroom bills outright ignore the concerns of 10s of millions of women and girls.

LGBT bathroom bills are not about equal rights, if they were they wouldnt be made at the expense of others. Theyre about pandering an identity politics and building onto a coalition of victims the Democrats think they need to win electiond

Its just bad public policy to ignore the concerns of a majority to pander to a very small majority, its also bad public policy to put political pandering over safety and security and dignity.

Redistricting.

35 percent? That's 10 percent more than voted for him.

....but 10 points lower than his approval rating heading into an election where he lost the popular vote but won by 85,000 votes spread over three states.

79% of the native party, however, is pretty low.

Redistricting.

Both parties redistrict, have for decades. Also the Senate isn't Gerrymandered, neither are Governor races or Presidential races. Nope, it wasn't redistricting, it was a overwhelming response by the electorate to Obama's policies and agenda. Liberalism when applied doesn't actually do what Liberals say it does.
It doesn't fix economic disparity, it creates it, it doesn't bring people together, it divides people and exploits these divisions for Political gain. Voters responded to everything from ObamaCare to the economy to his foreign policy initiatives and as consequence, the Democrats suffered huge losses

The better question is why do people even pay attention to polls anymore? It's not like they're remotely accurate or unbiased in anyway.

Polls told us Hillary would win the election.

The Polls that had Hillary Clinton up nationally by about 2 points were correct though...

The senate isn't balanced. Wyoming gets the same amount of senators as california.
