I am sure Kelly is not impressed. May shorten the number of days Bannon is on staff.
Comments and thoughts are?

Steve Bannon: US locked in 'economic war' with China - CNNPolitics
But Bannon also described his work to push this hardline trade agenda as a daily struggle that pits him against other top advisers to the President, including the National Economic Council Director Gary Cohn.
"That's a fight I fight every day here," Bannon said. "We're still fighting. There's Treasury and Gary Cohn and Goldman Sachs lobbying."
Bannon also accused his rivals inside the administration who have urged restraint on trade of "wetting themselves" over the issue.
He went on to articulate how he is reshuffling the US's foreign policy apparatus, explaining that he is seeking the ouster of the Acting Assistant Secretary for East Asian and Pacific Affairs at the State Department and "getting hawks in."

He's not wrong.... whether you like it or not, we are in an economic war with China... Or at the very least they are in one with us, and we are just ignoring it...

Having blown himself now it is his turn to cockblock his adversaries.

Talking like he's the president....and undermining Trump's NK "fast and furious" policy....and bad mouthing his colleagues...should be Bannon's death nail...but we'll see. That kind of self serving interview is what brought the Mooch down.

what causes this to be 'warfare' rather than international trade?

Bannon seems to be emboldened by recent events. Gen. Kelly has to questioning his decision to come on board this administration.

Because China is doing everything in it's power to undermine USA economic power and influence... if you are ignorant of this fact... I would look it up. We are far from fair international trade between China and the USA.

Kelly now has Operation Terminate Bannon active.

i believe this may be an implementation of the adage 'keep your friends close to you - and your enemies closer'

if he cuts bannon free, then it would not be unexpected for bannon to display his wrath for the benefit of his followers. a demographic also knowns as tRump's 'base'

an ambassadorship to a quiet locale like switzerland should be in order

since you have obviously looked it up, please share the cites with us so that we can share your own perspective

The US has had hundred of trade wars in its history.

The Bannon spittle is not worthy of the situation.

In a international system of multipolar security it is immanently important to remember that it can mean war to think an other country is not your enemy.

True to a point, but I do not see Canada invading the US. Same for Mexico.

Old saying- I would love to be a fly on the wall as Kelly takes him to the woodshed.

That was, like, the least interesting part of the interview. Bannon also just announced to the world that Trump was bluffing on North Korea because, as I think he said, "North Korea has us by the balls." And he described the White Supremacists as useful idiots, and went on to describe how he was at war with basically the entire White House. Oh, and he said we could offer taking all of our soldiers out of SK in return for China putting pressure on NK.

There was a lot to unpack from that interview.

Well Kelly will do a tad of Unpacking on Bannon.

I would be happy to... though I doubt you are being genuine...I'm going to put in the work
we can start with this...
Inside the Ring: Russia, China undermining U.S. - Washington Times
Russia and China are actively attempting to undermine the USA through strategic and long term goals.

“Russia and China now cooperate and coordinate to an unprecedented degree–politically, militarily, economically–and their cooperation, almost without deviation, carries anti-American and anti-Western ramifications. Russia, China, and a constellation of satellite states seek to undermine American power, dislodge America from its leading position in the world, and establish a new anti-Western global power structure. And both Russia in Eastern and Central Europe and China throughout Asia are becoming increasingly aggressive and assertive, even hegemonic, in the absence of a systemic U.S. response–not-withstanding the Obama administration’s ‘strategic pivot to Asia.'”
-statement made by https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Douglas_Schoen, who is a Democrat Political Anaylst in his book https://www.amazon.com/Russia-China-Axis-America’s-Crisis-Leadership/dp/1594037566

The Chinese government is constantly trying to steal patented technology in development in pristine high tech united states businesses, universities and government...
https://geneticliteracyproject.org/...ented-gmo-seeds-are-national-security-threat/
One example is hiring spies to steal GMO seeds that are products of years and years of research costing billions of dollars.

The Chinese government is constantly trying to hack into American businesses to steal sensitive information and valuable research, and they are among the most power hackers in the world with the Chinese Government bankroll.
https://motherboard.vice.com/en_us/...vernment-became-the-worlds-hacking-superpower
“Russia and China are the world’s leading practitioners of cyber warfare. They work overtime to sabotage and subvert military, economic, and infrastructure assets of nations they view as adversaries–and to loot their systems of military intelligence, diplomatic information, and corporate trade secrets. The Russians have brought down the technology infrastructure of Georgia and Estonia; Chinese hackers affiliated with the Army of the People’s Republic have infamously been identified as the culprits in massive attacks on U.S. banking, security, infrastructure, and even military systems.”-from the book above

The Chinese Government implements heavy tariffs and outright bans on US good coming into their country. They support a mercantilism strategy and are attempting to but assets all around the world in order to exceed economic pressure against the United States... often at their own people's expense. Not only that, but they censor their population against outside influence in order to maintain control of the conversation in their own country.

has many article on the Chinese government tactics for Political warfare such as http://www.heritage.org/global-poli...g-the-chinese-psychological-warfare-challenge

They constantly test the resolve of the U.S. and it's border countries on land grabbing and territorial aggression. India, south china sea, Japanese islands, Taiwan... China is constantly testing their boundaries for weaknesses. China Vows to stop Taiwanese independence http://www.thestandard.com.hk/breaking-news.php?id=74989

Thats actually the sign of a healthy administration and the mark of a good leader. Trump should surround himself with vigorous debate before deciding on things.

But not outside of the WH. This crap about firing and cleaning house, well the staff do not need his BS.

Nah- The US needs an embassy in Antarctica. He could then be his own 1 man show.

Who knows if Bannon deliberately talked to that journalist, knowing that his comments would get splashed all over the front pages.

Many have accused the Trump Camp of creating new controversies in order to get the old controversies out of the headlines -- Bannon could be playing that game right now, with this latest "exposé". He could have done all of this entirely on purpose, in order to knock Charlottesville off the news pages. Lefty media would happily flock to any new such controversy like moths to a flame - they're so predictable - and Bannon clearly knows this.

Bannon's too valuable for Trump to fire - Bannon is strongly supported by the base, and Trump acutely knows this. Bannon and Trump share the same views on the major issues. I agree with Bannon that China is eating America's lunch, and that the US must wake up and act more decisively to prevent China from completely supplanting the US as the world's foremost power. I agree with Bannon that the US only has 5-10 years to take on China head-on, otherwise China will defeat the US economically and reduce the US to a 2nd-rung power.

Bannon might be making these comments in order to force the entire executive branch to take on China. After all, the more war with North Korea is known to be a non-starter because of risk to Seoul, then the more the only option left is to take on China and pressure them to rein in North Korea. That reality dovetails with Bannon's agenda to defeat China economically and keep it from stealing America's lunch -- an agenda which clearly reflects US national interests.

Hey, the game seems to be working - I haven't heard any Lefties talking about Putin for at least a week.

Ambassadorships have to be approved by Congress. And a sweet spot like Switzerland would have been filled long ago by someone who is a backer at this point.
