The People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (Peta) has apologised and paid a family almost $49,000 after taking and euthanising a little girl's pet chihuahua.
Two people affiliated with the group travelled to the mobile home park because they said they had been asked for help picking up wild dogs and feral cats.
They removed an unattended chihuahua called Maya, which was a Christmas present to nine-year-old Cynthia Zarate.
Her father, Wilber Zarate, from Virginia, sued the company after it picked up his daughter's dog from the mobile home park and putting it down before a five day grace period was up.

PETA is ****ing pure evil

So much for PETA saving animals.

PETA is just a f'n scam. They don't do **** except annoy the crap out of everyone, fund ecological terrorists, and kill animals.

They euthanize the vast majority of the animals they rescue without even attempting to get them adopted.

They sell the corpses to scientific supply companies.

Once robots become commonplace their sister organization PETR (People for the Ethical Treatment of Robots) will start to make the news too.

That would be RETH (Robots for the Ethical Treatment of Humans).

That is a public relations faux pas.

Oh come on now. Im no fan of PETA but this wasnt malcious. It was a very unfortunate mistake by them. Im not sure you can put a price tag on a family pet but 50k isnt to shabby of one.

PETA Euthanized A Lot Of Animals At Its Shelter In 2014, And No-Kill Advocates Are Not Happy About It

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals killed most of the animals at its Norfolk, Virginia, shelter in 2014, according to preliminary figures filed with the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.

The group euthanized 2,454 of its 3,369 cats, dogs and other animals, the vast majority of which were “owner surrenders,” meaning that they’d been relinquished to the group voluntarily. Just 23 dogs and 16 cats were adopted.

These figures aren’t shocking to PETA’s long-time critics — who have for years pointed out the discrepancy between how this prominent animal rights group is perceived, and what they actually do — but they are leading to a renewed call from no-kill advocates to put the shelter out of business.

Like I said Im not really a fan of Petas antics but the euphonsia thing is a matter of perspective.

Is it kinder to control population or is it better to let them starve off. Both are cruel in some ways and merciful in other ways.

There are a lot of reasons I can't stand PETA but what you posted isn't evil. Euthanasia of unwanted animals isn't evil. It is an unfortunate necessity in a country full of irresponsible pet owners.

I do animal rescue, my step mother helps to run a no-kill shelter. I know the work it takes to rescue and the joy of finding a furry friend a forever home. PETA is ****ING EVIL.

OK Im not gonna defend PETA anymore than I have.

First off I commend you and your stepmothers work. I think thats very compassionate of you both.

Second I am curious how many animals you shelter and what you do with the ones you cant find a home for?
Looking at this from a pragmatic view I wonder if its economically feasable to shelter all of them and if you cant what are the health concerns to people in respect to diseases.

Hopefully someone will be smart enough to implement Isaac Asimov's "Three Laws of Robotics" :

A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.

A robot must obey orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.

A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.

I never liked PETA.
Unless it is the sister group People Eating Tasty Animals.

A simple google search reveals PETA kills the majority of animals it brings in.

I average a dozen a year, because of my situation it's not easy. I get them to my step mother, if I cannot home an animal. Every single one we've had, has a home today.

Naked women protesting fur is the only good part of PETA.

I certainly respect what you and your step-mother do. That is a labor of love. But I have to ask, do you consider ALL animal shelters that are not no-kill to be evil?

I abhor kill shelters to be honest, but they generally don't promote themselves as the Gods of Animal welfare.

Do you prefer the shelters shut down and the animals just roam the streets? You can't possibly expect all stray and abandoned animals to be taken care of.
