Trump Signs Order Rolling Back Environmental Rules on Infrastructure

While we were all being distracted with Trump being an apologist for Nazis, this is what he did:

Trump Signs Order Rolling Back Environmental Rules on Infrastructure

So great, now new construction that doesn't build higher in flood zones will be damaged by floods. Obama required new construction in flood zones to be built taller to withstand damage.

I think Trump is still fuming over NY not letting him build a restaurant on Jones Beach with a basement (that would have been totally destroyed during Hurricane Sandy.)

Don't know which freeway the President was speaking of. However, his comment about the length of time it takes to get things done is not without precedent.

Here in Southern California, there is a segment of a local freeway they have been trying to finish for 45 years. Every attempt has been held up by environmental lawsuits and other shenanigans.

The epic and ugly battle over what to do about the 710 Freeway - LA Times

Regulations can be outrageous, and it's a good thing to limit their scope to get things done.

I spent millions to move my business and build a new manufacturing facility a few years ago because a small plant expansion within the boundaries of my business was deemed to require and EIR. That pushed me into a rabbit hole of EIR's and other BS the City of Los Angeles was forcing me to address.

I moved the business as it was going to be less expensive than jumping through their hoops.

Not trying to say there is an equivalence, but the President is right to push back against the dark shadow of the government on these badly needed projects.
I work in civil engineering and I don't disagree with that, either. Environmental regulations can strangle a project, absolutely, and that's why I said I'd have to know which regulations. Some are good, some are not.

Having lived/worked in both California and now Iowa the difference is like night and day. California has onerous regulations, and in addition to causing delays, they also add to the cost of a project. Iowa is much more reasonable, and as far as I can tell there is no discernible differences in results.

You still make your own choices as to what to pay attention to.

You pretend you're being played. You're not. Accept some personal agency.
It's more a worry that others are being played by the filtering mainstream news does that I don't agree with.
