Trump, Saying ‘Racism Is Evil,’ Condemns Violence in Charlottesville

It's immaterial if he's a White Supremacist in his heart because he's clearly aligned himself with them, so same difference.

the guy lives 70 years without anyone calling him a white supremacist(and no evidence of such). He runs for President and every sheep liberal feels justified in calling him an evil racist.

Just because people don't agree with your politics doesn't make them evil. And yes, I can't believe I have to explain that to a grown adult. but here we are.

Anybody who thinks Trump's statement was great or that he redeemed himself in any way is undergoing a particularly severe form of Stockholm Syndrome.

From Neil Young's 'the needle and the damage done' we now have 'the trump and the damage done' ...

8 years of Obama refusing to say the words "Islamic Terrorist", and the left could give a sh*t.

2 days after condemning hate and calling for Unity, Trump clarifies his remarks and calls out "white supremacists" by name. Left continues to lose their sh*t.

Trump is wasting his time trying to pacify the left. He broke them, badly, when he won the Presidency. So it's a waste of time to try and glue them back together.

One small step forward for racial sensitivity for the highly credulous, one much, much larger leap backwards:

President Trump may soon issue a pardon for Joe Arpaio, the colorful former Arizona sheriff who was found guilty two weeks ago of criminal contempt for defying a state judge’s order to stop traffic patrols targeting suspected undocumented immigrants. In his final years as Maricopa County sheriff, Arpaio had emerged as a leading opponent of illegal immigration.

“I am seriously considering a pardon for Sheriff Arpaio,” the president said Sunday, during a conversation with Fox News at his club in Bedminster, N.J. “He has done a lot in the fight against illegal immigration. He’s a great American patriot and I hate to see what has happened to him.”

White supremacists and xenophobes who may have thought for five minutes that Trump's statement meant he was actually taking a stand against white racist groups will see this story and sleep soundly tonight.

Liberals aren't the only ones calling trump/bannon white nationalists, especially the all-important independent vote next year ...

Islam is a religion, whereas White Supremacists are a racist xenophobic group. Gosh, it's almost as if the two things are different.

name a single person(who didn't vote for Hillary Clinton) who thinks that?! Don't want to just say you're a liar, so I'll wait until you produce zero evidence to support your claim, then call you a liar.

Of course, that's rule number 7 in the victim's handbook, complain about the press BEFORE there is any.

You are going to have to go some distance to prove to me that Trump has had a rougher time than the abuse heaped on Obama and his family, the childish and cruel things said about his wife and kids...

This ****wad was been playing martyr since he was a toddler, he's got "poor me" down to a ****ing science.

It's a sign of cowardice.

I'm not complaining about what the press might do. I'm merely citing what they did and continue to do.

Bottom line, Trump was absolutely right that hatred and violence come from all sides of the political spectrum. Some Nazi idiot goes jihadi at an already violent event and suddenly everyone forgets that antifa was there. Everyone forgets about Alexandria.

There are people prone to violence all over the place just looking for a reason to pop their cork. Quite often they latch on to some ideology or other to "justify" their anger and violence. No ideologically focused group is immune from this kind of incident.

Do white nationalists count?

I think it will be presuming that his AG/DoJ follows through on his tough talk to hold these hate groups accountable to the fullest extent of the law. The TodayShow got it right, however, when they challenged the President via his AG when they showed how a neo-Nazi group viewed Pres. Trump's lackluster comments on Friday (8/11/2017) as an affirmation of their actions.

Essentially, what the White Nationalist groups were saying to the people of Charlottesville, VA and White people throughout the United States was, "Pick a side. Either you're with us or you're against us". Through intimidation and fear, they showed America what could happen to those who choose wrong. This is why it was important for the President to step up and call this what it was - an act of domestic terrorism. Had he continued to not do so, he was have been viewed as silently supporting their violent extremist actions. I could pick apart his Tweet on Friday where he failed to explicitly condemn their actions and attempted to lay out a blanket of shame and finger pointing "at ALL sides" while also trying to say, "I had nothing to do with that," but since he did called out the domestic terror groups by name today (whether pressured to do so or he had a change of heart through conscientious), I'll let it go.

He could make a statement 30 seconds after it happened and the anti-Trumpers would bitch because it took him 20 seconds too long.

I think we all know that Trump will be taken to task by the left no matter what he says.

No, he will be taken to task by the 55-60% of America (the majority) that thinks he is doing a bad job (most of which also thinks he is a buffoon). He so rarely says the right thing at the right time because he is so ill-suited for the job (over his head). Then again, we all knew that last fall, but some people voted for him anyway.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but the disapproval of Trump comes from left, center and right (from all angles).

Is trump trying to outdo Pete Wilson in his efforts at making Latino voters vote against the Republican Party?

It was a weekend and he was on vacation. Most presidents rarely make these kinds of statements on the weekend in the dog days of Summer.

Yeah that's it. Because there's microphones in NJ.

What took so long?

I guess he figured this from the 1st day had covered it ...

"We condemn in the strongest possible terms this egregious display of hatred, bigotry, and violence on many sides, On many sides."
"It's been going on for a long, long time in our country. Not Donald Trump. Not Barack Obama. It's been going on for a long, long time."

He has a lot on his plate with North Korea, Venezuela, leakers in his own administration, Senate leaders not doing their job, etc.

Not to minimize this incident, but nuclear war and potential military intervention in Venezuela are much more serious issues than this.

I disagree.

See, that's the problem with leadership these days and it goes contrary to what then candidate Trump campaigned on. His was a domestic agenda. So, when so many people have been calling for the federal government to do more for those at home than it does for those abroad and that's what his campaign was really all about, why hesitate to take a firm stand on the domestic front?

(Oh...because this wasn't about spending taxpayer money to those who aren't worthy...C'mon...I know somebody was thinking it. ;))

What fantasy world. Trump was sued for racist business practice, and there were plenty of other complaints.

I can't believe a grown man actually believes the BS coming out of his own mouth. You're projecting your own excuses onto him.

Sure they do!

Cool.

White nationalist leaders are praising Donald Trump's decision to name former Breitbart executive Steve Bannon as his chief strategist, telling CNN in interviews they view Bannon as an advocate in the White House for policies they favor.

The leaders of the white nationalist and so-called "alt-right" movement — all of whom vehemently oppose multiculturalism and share the belief in the supremacy of the white race and Western civilization — publicly backed Trump during his campaign for his hardline positions on Mexican immigration, Muslims, and refugee resettlement. Trump has at times disavowed their support. Bannon's hiring, they say, is a signal that Trump will follow through on some of his more controversial policy positions.

"I think that's excellent," former Ku Klux Klan leader David Duke told CNN's KFile. "I think that anyone that helps complete the program and the policies that President-elect Trump has developed during the campaign is a very good thing, obviously. So it's good to see that he's sticking to the issues and the ideas that he proposed as a candidate. Now he's president-elect and he's sticking to it and he's reaffirming those issues."

So white racists decided that Trump hiring Steve Bannon was a SIGNAL TO THEM that Trump is a white racist, and based on that evidence you are convinced Trump is a white racist.

That is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. It makes zero sense. For THAT to be your basis for calling Trump a racist is a joke and nothing you say should ever be taken seriously again.

I don't pretend to know what's in his heart. That he has allied himself with them is sufficient.
