12-year-old rape victim told to 'turn the other cheek' as Christian school refused to

Re: 12-year-old rape victim told to 'turn the other cheek' as Christian school refuse

The headmaster of an elite private Christian school at the center of a lawsuit, which alleges four students repeatedly sexually assaulted a 12-year-old student, is firing back at the accusations, calling some untrue.
***
The first attack happened at an after school football game party in fall 2014, the lawsuit states. Then in January and February of 2015, four male students and others “conspired to engage in male on male sexual harassment, sexual assault and/or rape upon John Doe in the locker room not supervised by an adult," according to the suit.

Sorry - leaving them in an unsupervised locker room is indefensible right there. If there was not a teacher or other adult there to supervise then that is negligence. And saying some of the allegations are untrue is not a vigorous denial.

I say again, and mildly, that FERPA prevents the school from public comment. We've yet to learn which allegations are untrue and which are true.

Re: 12-year-old rape victim told to 'turn the other cheek' as Christian school refuse

I would call the police to have them investigate and assure the victim had proper access to medical and emotional treatment. Then again, I'm only a sane human being that understands that the well being of others are far more important than the reputation of a school.

Possibly you don't understand that false accusation is a grave affair and that the reputation of the persons is at least as important as making you feel better for having accused them.

Re: 12-year-old rape victim told to 'turn the other cheek' as Christian school refuse

That's your argument? Oh my. I just can't even begin to formulate a response to that. Wow.

The opposite to this.

I'd get the Police involved and let them investigate and handle it. No hesitation.

If you accuse four children of rape without more than hearsay? Well, if it makes you feel better.

Re: 12-year-old rape victim told to 'turn the other cheek' as Christian school refuse

Uh...yeah...which is why the school should have notified police.

It's federal law that anyone who works with children has to notify police if they have a suspicion the child is being abused. I taught at a Montessori charter school, and we had a yearly meeting about these regulations. This applies to public schools (which charter schools are) and private schools. It applies to ministers, therapists, social workers, doctors, nurses - anyone taking care of a child.

After that, the police decide what should be done.

So you think it is okay to accuse children of rape on hearsay? I can only hope that their parents sue you for every penny you ever earn. After all, you are risking four kids' futures on some unevidenced accusation.

Possibly you don't understand that false accusation is a grave affair and that the reputation of the persons is at least as important as making you feel better for having accused them.

And if the accusation is false, that will be up to law enforcement to decide, not a school principle. I rather have 4 teens with potentially "damaged reputations" than be completely negligent and not provide immediate care to someone if it turned out the victim truly was a victim of rape.

Re: 12-year-old rape victim told to 'turn the other cheek' as Christian school refuse

Four kids, when asked, contradict the accusations of one boy? I don't know how you would react as a principal. How would you?

Um...you report it to child protective services as soon as you hear about it because by law you are a mandated reporter and they investigate it with the assistance of the police.

Re: 12-year-old rape victim told to 'turn the other cheek' as Christian school refuse

No contest. The well being and safety of my child is first.

And it were you child, whose well being you protect that is seeking to maliciously destroy the lives of four boys your kid doesn't like? For that vindictive act, your child should then be punished much more severely than had it not maintained the lie.

Somehow I am reminded of Lord Of The Flies....

IF it was determined to be a lie, then yes, I would punish. I would not raise a child that would "maliciously destroy" anything. You're talking about a kid, not an adult or even a teenager.

Curious, what's your idea of punishment that would be much more severe?

So you would do nothing?

So....

Indian giver = paleocon?

Re: 12-year-old rape victim told to 'turn the other cheek' as Christian school refuse

An allegation of sexual assault needs to be reported to the police regardless. It isn't the principals job to assess credibility of claims

Then be ware. Yiu shiuld not have assaulted me.

;)

12-year-old rape victim told to 'turn the other cheek' as Christian school refused to report sexual abuse, lawsuit alleges | The Independent

I have no words to express my disgust at this...

I think this school needs to be investigated. Just from what they said about it not being how Christian Institutions handle this sort of thing.

I love the part about "everything in God's kingdom happens for a reason". Hmmm, so does that mean God purposely allows rape and other crimes to happen because it's for a reason? If so, what an asshole this so-called God must be!

As if religion needed another black eye...

You lack faith and are obviously an anti-religious contrarian hell bent on attacking the message of the Holy Spirit.

It has nothing to do with the principal in the first place... it is up to the PARENT.

And I am reminded of the Duke Lacrosse Team that was accused of gang rape and turned out it was all made up and the boys lives were nearly ruined with prison.

You got that right and I have no shame admitting it. Oh and by the way, can you actually prove the existence of this so-called holy spirit? I'll be waiting patiently, very likely until what the religious zealots call eternity.

Scientists call eternity eternity as well... they just use the synonym "infinite" instead.
