Chinese paper says China should stay neutral if North Korea attacks first | Reuters

BEIJING (Reuters) - If North Korea launches an attack that threatens the United States then China should stay neutral, but if the United States attacks first and tries to overthrow North Korea's government China will stop them, a Chinese state-run newspaper said on Friday

I've said all along. China is our enemy and we should curtail our purchases from them immediately.

They have told is, in effect that we have to accept nuclear blackmail as long as they don't shoot.

Now it gets complicated.

The Global Times is the paper the CCP uses to broadcast policy intentions that it does not want to have to state publicly acting as the PRC.

So that's not a well-connected writer. That's a policymaker.

China is trying to take the easy way out.

1. They don't want to have to take a heavy hand to NK.
2. They don't want the economic retaliation from the US if they don't.

I think they are afraid that nutjob in NK will lash out against THEM if they press NK too much.

Sucks to be the Chinese, but they made their bed...etc.

China is largely to blame. They don't want a western nation on any border with them and have used NK as a communist buffer to keep the influences of SK and the military bases of the US further from them. What they deserve is a unified Korean peninsula run by the SK government or a US takeover/redevelopment of wasted NK post-war with new bases propped up by China and Russia.

If I was China I would do exactly that.

This is what I expected to hear from China as I have already stated in similar threads.

The Chinese are showing that they will not stand by the aggressor, which is a big step from 1950.

China is trying to dictate our foreign policy to us and telling us we must live under North Korea's threats and blackmail until the time comes they take "one free shot" at the USA, as if we won't miss a few cities since we have so many.

China does not dictate to the USA as to how we handle an existential threat, that will soon have hydrogen bombs. (and BTW, so will Iran - their main customer for embargoed weapons). It's nice that China has exposed itself as the rogue nation it really is.

Since obviously, the posters here don't agree, my question to them is "why don't you take the threat of nuclear blackmail and nuclear threats seriously?"

Note: In some respects, the south is not worth saving since they seem to be so disinterested in their own survival.
