Getting back to the OP and Japan....
Japan as the island nation it is off the continent of Asia is what Britain was to the U.S. as its island nation off the continent of Europe.
Just as whenever anything happened in Europe we and the Brits were in it together, so too as the CCP Dictator-Tyrants in Beijing and Kim press down on East Asia to India, Japan is with the USA virtually 100%.
Japan does of course have its own interests in possibly shooting down North Korean missiles overflying its islands en route to near Guam. However, it is unlikely Tokyo would be saying this without the U.S. armed forces covering their back.
The Chinese are btw persona non gratis in Pyongyang but, all the same, if the CCP Boyz in Beijing engaged with USA, Kim would launch too against USA. (If China attacked USA.) Thingy is, U.S. has with it Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, India, Australia, the efficient forces of Singapore plus several others of the vast region.
Xi is Kim's only friend in the region yet neither Xi nor Kim have visited the other's country. Japan meanwhile has shifted the bulk of its armed forces from the North against Russia to the South and West against China and North Korea.
The times they're a-changed.

Yeah there is no denying it, we Americans stereotype any culture that ain't 'Merican....
Them Japs can't fly airplanes because mothers bundle their children. Japs have bad eyesight. Can't build quality military equipment. Aren't aggressive fighters- too subservient in society. They don't 'value' life like westerners do. Real men don't eat rice.... :roll:
