Someone Threw a Bomb Through a Mosque Window in Minnesota

Asad Zaman, director of the Muslim American Society of Minnesota, said at a news conference that a witness saw something being thrown at the imam's office window from a "van or truck" before the blast. WCCO-TV reports that he said it may have been a fire bomb. Mohamed Omar, the center's executive director, said a worshipper saw a pickup truck speeding away afterward.

There were 15 to 20 people inside the mosque when the blast happened. Worshippers managed to extinguish the blaze before firefighters arrived, the society said in a news release.

I'm glad no one was hurt. What on earth would prompt someone to throw a fire bomb into an occupied building? Got to be one sick individual, to say the least. Hopefully law enforcement catches these psychos and get them off the streets before they hurt someone.

I'm curious as to the motivation behind the attack, can only speculate at this point. But if it turns out to be some racist dude who thinks all Muslims are terrorists, how do they not realize they just employed terrorist tactics and are thus no better than the actual terrorists?

Because bigots tend to have very poor self-awareness.

That being said, I'll reserve judgment until the perpetrator is caught. Regardless of their motive, the crime was the same, and they should be punished accordingly.

Agreed. Such acts of violence are reprehensible.

However, I also prefer to wait until the investigation concludes and we discover the who, what, and why of the act rather than jump to conclusions.

Federal authorities on Tuesday announced charges against three Illinois men suspected of the August bombing of an Islamic Center and attempted November bombing of a a women’s health clinic.

Michael B. Hari, 47; Joe Morris, 22; Michael McWhorter, 29 of Clarence were arrested on gun charges. The Aug. 5 explosion at the Dar Al-Farooq Islamic Center in Bloomington, Minnesota resulted in no injuries, but five people were in the building at the time. The bomb targeting the Women’s Health Practice in Champaign on Nov. 7 was unsuccessfully detonated.........

No, let's rephrase that. They didn't "employ terrorist tactics" making them "no better" than terrorists.

They committed an act of terrorism and are a terrorist.
